Vision for Nová Osada
Kufa, Ondřej ; Zdvomka, Ondřej (referee) ; Marek, Jiří (advisor)
The thesis sets two goals. The first is to determine the urban structure of the Nová Osada with the most suitable location for the Alzheimer‘s Center. The second goal is to form a proposal for the centre. The location of the development site is on the outskirts of Frýdek-Místek. Before drafting the proposal, it was first necessary to sufficiently analyze the issues of the place and the city. For the design of the Alzheimer‘s centre, it was necessary to prepare documents with the same detail. These documents focus on general information about Alzheimer‘s disease, the existing facilities for people with this disease, the therapies provided and the spatial needs of people with dementia. Thanks to the conclusions of the analyses, it was achievable to determine the urban structure of the Nová Osada and outline the functional division of the area. At the same time, it was possible to find the most suitable region for the Alzheimer‘s Center. The composition in this work structures the centre into a small village. Arranging the centre into a village brings many benefits. Predominantly for the inhabitants. The centre thus offers a dignified place to live and space for active living with Alzheimer‘s disease.

The aim of the design is to revitalize the area lined by the streets of Nové sady, Úzká, and the Malá Amerika building. This uncultivated place is located quite near to the city center. During the design, the main focus was placed on the potential of the defined area. The new buildings recreate the city block, which is partially opened at the top of the area. In the upper corner of the plot is dominated by the rotating town hall tower. The lower floors of the town hall building are receding backward for the necessity to create a public space under the building, due to a road barrier directly in front of the city hall. The concept of the town hall and the completion of the city block enlivens the locality, brings there new functions, culture, and safety. The proposal counts on planting and recultivating new greenery towards the Malá Amerika building. The whole design thus seeks significantly integrate the new complex with the lowest load on the environment.
