Social skills in emerging adulthood in connection with ACE

This bachelor theses's main goal is to test and verify the factor structure of the SSI (Social skills inventory) on common population and on clinical population as well, specifically population that went through adverse childhood experiences (ACEs). First, the period of emerging adulthood is characterized as the target group. Then this theses give a basic overview of literature concerning social skills abroad and in the Czech context as well and introduce SSI as a research instrument. The ACE issue is characterized and studied in the connection with the emerging adulthood and social skills. The research in this theses did not verify the assumption that SSI six-factor model (Riggio & Carney, 2003) will correspond with the data collected on the Czech population in the period of emerging adulthood. A four-factor solution was created, its reliability estimates are at least as acceptable as are estimates in the original study of SSI. However, these results suggest that SSI is probably not a valid instrument for measuring social skills and further verification of these results is needed.
