Kotalová, Karolína ; Ondráš, František (advisor) ; Pospíšil, Adam (referee)
Thesis abstract Mahraganat is a distinctive Egyptian music genre which originated in the late 2000s in suburban neighborhoods in Cairo as a cultural expression of the young generation of Egyptian men. Its significance went beyond the genre of dance music since it has become a social phenomenon which reflects issues of the subculture which is associated with this genre and environment. This thesis focuses on thematic analysis of mahraganat songs' lyrics and the socio-cultural context of this phenomena.
