Home education from the perspective of primary school teachers and principals
Koňařík, Martin ; Machovcová, Kateřina (advisor) ; Šťastný, Vít (referee)
Thesis abstract Home education from the point of view of primary school teachers and principals Created by: Martin Koňařík, July 9, 2023 The diploma thesis explores homeschooling (known as individual education according to Czech laws). The theoretical part defines the basic concepts, describes the elements of this educational reality and the mutual relations between them. It briefly deals with the development of home education and the way of its legislative anchoring in the Czech Republic. It mentions the reasons why parents choose this alternative and describes what educational styles they use when teaching their children. Attention is focused mainly on index schools, in which homeschoolers must be enrolled by law. These schools work with pupils in individual education in different ways, have different requirements for them, differ from each other in the number of pupils, years of experience with them and the level of their support. This can consist of frequent online contact, regular consultations, sending educational materials or only a compulsory examination once every six months. The practical part describes the preparation, progress and results of an extensive questionnaire survey among principals and teachers of schools that are dedicated to pupils in individual education. The research reveals, among...
Development of mortality on diabetes mellitus in developed countries, focusing on the Czech Republic
Koňařík, Martin ; Burcin, Boris (advisor) ; Hulíková Tesárková, Klára (referee)
Development of mortality on diabetes mellitus in developed countries, focusing on the Czech Republic Abstract This thesis addresses the development of diabetes mellitus mortality in selected developed countries between 1950 and 2008 and compares this development with the situation in Czechoslovakia, the Czech Republic respectively. This development is analyzed by sex, age and type of diabetes. Furthermore it also deals with diabetes morbidity and the share of diabetes mortality from the total mortality. The main approach used in this thesis is analysis of standardized mortality rates and this analysis was done both for whole long-term time series and time series within each International Classification of Diseases for individual countries. Based on the results, it was found that the development of diabetes mellitus mortality was similar across selected countries. It could be divided into several phases. Differentiation between mortality rates of males and females that occurred during reference period was so significant that mortality rates of females which were always higher had dropped below the rates of males. This effect is called in this thesis as a transition from higher female mortality to higher male mortality and it occurred in different countries at different times and also had variable-length...
Comparison of life tables construction in selected countries
Godunov, Ivan ; Burcin, Boris (advisor) ; Koňařík, Martin (referee)
Comparison of life tables construction in selected countries Abstract The main goal of this work is to analyze the methods used by the selected statistical offices in the construction of mortality tables. This work explored fundamental differences regarding the type of published life tables and parameters estimation methods. The theoretical part provides an overview of basic methodological information and description of methodology used, which was acquired during communicating with the selected statistical offices. During the analysis it was found that the differences in calculating the various functions of life tables are minimal, so the analytical part is mainly devoted to methods of estimating the probability of death at age 0 and smoothing of probability of death in older age. Acquired procedures and methods were applied to the data for the Czech Republic, which allowed the comparison itself. The final part is the overall evaluation of achieved results, where can be also found commentaries on selected procedures and methods. Keywords: life table, comparison, life table components, probability of death, smoothing of probability of death

The final part is the overall evaluation of achieved results, where can be also found commentaries on selected procedures and methods. The analysis shows that the most widely used type is a detailed cross-sectional life table. The most appropriate models of smoothing mortality curve are Kannistö-Thatcher (UK) Martinellův model (Sweden) and Kannistö (Canada). On the other side, the least...

Forecast of the size and structure of the prison population in the CR
Koňařík, Martin ; Burcin, Boris (advisor) ; Kučera, Tomáš (referee)
Forecast of the size and structure of the prison population in the CR Abstract: Forecasting of prison population in the Czech Republic is almost an unexplored topic. To the whole prison system as a topic is also devoted little space in the literature. The most advanced methods of forecasting of prison populations cannot be used to the Czech data, which are used in countries with a long tradition of it. The data are not connected between Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Interior, and also differ in their definitions. It is therefore necessary to use a simplified method, which correspond to the data sources. The process is also interfered with unexpected external factors such as the amnesty of the President of the Republic on the 1 January 2013. Models for convicted expected forecast decline in their number by the end of 2013 to 12 to 19 thousands. Models further assume that a decline in 2013 would take place, even if there were no amnesty. Models for the accused assume their fluctuation around the same values. Follow-up calculations show that the state would save significantly by the projection models variants and also the burden on prison officers in correctional facilities would be reduced to 2.1 to 3.2 prisoners per guard from the current 3.5 prisoners per guard. Keywords: prison projection,...
