Nursing Care of High Flow Oxygen Therapy Patients

The objective of the bachelor's thesis is to describe the nursing care and its specifics in patients receiving high flow oxygen therapy (HFNO). The theoretical section of the thesis focuses on the general oxygen therapy and explores its application options and usage principles. This section discusses indications and contraindications of the oxygen therapy and its basic types. Specifically, it focuses on the high flow oxygen therapy, including its mechanism or therapeutical advantages and disadvantages. Moreover, it discusses the indications and contraindications of the high flow nasal oxygen treatment (HFNO) and describes the conditions in which patients received oxygen therapy using the high flow nasal oxygen device. The final part of the theoretical section deals with the most prevalent shared symptom, its diagnostics and treatment. The practical section of the thesis presents several case studies, using specific data relevant to each case. As a result, nursing anamneses and nursing diagnoses were formulated. Informing the lay public about stroke and its prevention

The bachelor's thesis "The lay public's awareness of stroke and its prevention" examines the lay public's awareness of stroke and its prevention in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The aim of the work was to determine the level of awareness of the lay public about stroke and its prevention options, with regard to comparing the situation in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The theoretical part of the work provides a complete overview of the basic anatomy of the brain, including its vascular supply, the mechanisms of this disease, symptomatic manifestations, diagnostic procedures, therapeutic options and preventive measures related to cerebrovascular accident. The empirical part contains the results of the own exploratory investigation. The exploratory research method was a survey available in both language versions - self-edited. The survey was distributed via an online form. A total of 334 duly completed forms were included in the research, 241 from the Czech Republic and 93 from the Slovak Republic. Educational material for parents of children with allergy to cow's milk protein

The bachelor's thesis "Educational material for parents of children with an allergy to cow protein" deals with the issue of informing parents of children with an allergy to cow protein. The goal of the work was to create educational material that will help parents of children understand the essence of diagnosed CMPA and help provide an overview of the care options for a child with the disease. The educational material was created on the basis of data obtained regarding parents' awareness through a survey. The theoretical part of the thesis provides an overview of the definition of allergy, diagnosis of allergy and treatment of allergy. It provides a comprehensive overview of the entire issue of CMPA and the nutrition of children with CMPA. We also focus on education in our work and present existing educational materials and previously conducted studies related to CMPA. In the empirical part of the thesis, the results of the own survey are presented. The research method was a questionnaire survey, 258 duly completed questionnaires were included in the study itself. The impact of breast cancer on the patient's activities of daily living

This bachelor thesis deals with the topic of breast cancer and its impact on the lives of women affected by this disease. The theoretical part of the thesis focuses on a detailed description of the anatomy of the breast, risk factors associated with the occurrence of breast cancer, preventive measures, diagnostic methods, various forms of treatment and its possible side effects. In the empirical part of this thesis the results of the questionnaire survey are described, the data are statistically processed and the results of the survey are compared with the results of previously conducted studies. The methodology of this investigation included the development of questionnaires, the structure of which was previously consulted with the thesis supervisor and an expert in the field of oncogynecology. The data collection based on the questionnaire developed by me took place at the Oncology Clinic of the University Hospital in Motol and 46 respondents were included in the research population. Paliative care from the point of view of non-medical healthcare workers

This bachelor thesis describes dying from the view of nurses and compares implementing principles of paliative care of the dying patient lying on a hospital bed with care in a hospice. The goal of this work was to find out how nurses with practice in both types of institutions look at this care and what differences between them they recognize. The theoretical part involves definitions of basic notions and introduces the the whole themes of dying to the reader. Also basic principles, thoughts and values, that paliative medicine has and practices, will be mentioned. Further it submits basic information about history of this specialization in our country and also in the world, approaches typical expressions and problems of a dying patient and explains what specifics the hospice institutions have and what kind of care they provide. For the comparison, there will be also described how the paliative care for the patient in the terminal phase laying on a hospital bed is implemented. Specifics of nursing care for a paediatric patient after hip surgery

Background: This bachelor thesis deals with the specifics of nursing care for a child patient after hip joint surgery. Objectives: The aim of the research was to find out the specifics of nursing care for a patient after hip surgery in orthopedic departments or clinics located in Slovakia or Czech Republic. Subsequently the findings were evaluated and compared. Methods: The self-constructed questionnaire prepared for the bachelor's thesis was anonymous and non-standardized. A total of 37 nurses working in orthopedic departments or clinics participated in the research exploration. From a geographical point of view, they were employees of 2 Slovak and 2 Czech hospitals.For statistical analysis, given the stated hypotheses and the nature of the data, we used the test of agreement of two proportions, Chi - square association with Yates correction, Cohran's test of equality of pooled proportions and a series of McNamar's tests with Bonferroni correction for multiple comparisons Results: Nurses working in the orthopedic department with children's patients in Slovakia and the Czech Republic prepare their patients for surgery and for what awaits them after it. Preoperative and postoperative care in cardiac surgery from the patient's point of view - Adam Votava ABSTRACT The bachelor's thesis "Preoperative and postoperative care in cardiac surgery from the patient's point of view" investigated, evaluated and compared the views of patients who underwent cardiac surgery on the health care provided. The aim of the work was to map problematic areas in the provided information on the course of planned care and other areas connected with this topic. In the theoretical part of the thesis, the field of cardiac surgery itself, the process of hospitalization in the cardiac surgery department and specific information about the surgical procedure that the interviewees went through were presented. She also dealt with the role of the patient in healthcare. It presents the legal and ethical aspects of the patient in the Czech Republic and explained the factors affecting the patient's access to the provided health care. This bachelor's thesis is focused on the topic of ,,Care of patients with permanent indwelling urinary catheters - patient education material''. The thesis consists of a theoretical and an empirical part. Objectives: The main aim of this thesis was to map out the theoretical and practical knowledge of nursing care in patients with an inserted permanent urinary catheter. Methods: Using the method of a questionnaire survey, we performed research of the foreknowledge of hospitalized patients with an inserted permanent urinary catheter in two hospitals - Motol University Hospital and Na Homolce Hospital. The total amount of respondents from both hospitals was 100. All gethered research was processed through statistical methods and interpreted using graphic charts. Results: From the results of predefined hypotheses, we found out the existence of correlation betwenn the patients awareness and their place of hospitalization. We have discovered if patients were able to manipulate correctly and independently with the urinary bag. Subsequently we performed a comparison between the two hospitals concernig patients awareness about hygienic care, the correct placement of urinary bag when walking, and the adherence to recommended daily water intake. Health professionals' awareness of DCD organ donation

54BDue to the lack of organs suitable for transplants and the continuing significant disparity between the number of patients waiting for transplants and the number of transplants performed, it is necessary to look for other possibilities of obtaining organs. Donors with irreversible circulatory arrest (DCD - donor after circulatory death) could be one way. In the Czech Republic, organ harvesting from DCD donors has been carried out since 2002. 55BIn my bachelor's thesis, I investigated the awareness of non-medical healthcare professionals about DCD donation, as I believe that low awareness could be one of the barriers to the introduction of DCD into routine practice. 56BTheoretical part: I describe the history of transplants, immunosuppression, and the concept of brain death, the differences between donors after brain death (DBD - donor after brain death) and DCD donors, as well as the principles of their care. Pressure ulcer as an adverse event

The bachelor thesis "Decubitus as an adverse event" deals with the comparison of the modified Norton scale and the Braden scale. Furthermore, the thesis deals with the frequency of decubitus in the Central Military Hospital in Prague. The aim of the work was to compare the accuracy of both scales. Another aim of the work was to monitor the preventive measures introduced. Part of the work was to determine and describe the frequency of occurrence of decubitus in the selected medical facility. The theoretical part of the thesis explained the basic definitions and essential concepts related to decubitus, adverse events and departmental safety objectives. The empirical part contains the results of the actual research investigation and its comparison with the results of studies focusing on similar topics. Method: a mixed methods research design was chosen. Results: 48.48% of the respondents rated the risk of decubitus according to both scales in agreement. In 51.52 % respondents the evaluation according to one scale did not correspond to the evaluation according to the other scale. The Braden scale had a sensitivity of 100% and specificity of 59%.
