Development of language skills in early-age children

The topic of this bachelor's thesis is a development of language skills in early aged children, thus children up to the age of three. The main goal of this thesis is the analysis of a development of language skills in early aged children. The theoretical part of the thesis has two chapters. The first chapter presents the theoretical basis for the issue of language development, the difference between speech and communication as such and describes the production of sounds. Furthermore, there are the basic concepts of the nervous system important for the creation of speech presented in the first chapter. The six cranial nerves (trigeminal nerve, facial nerve, glossopharyngeal nerve, vagus nerve, hypoglossal nerve and vestibulocochlearis nerve) and their influence on speech and hearing production are listed here. The second chapter of the theoretical part of this work is devoted to specific periods in the development of language skills in the early years of the child. The prenatal period is presented here, followed by the screaming period, the pre-speech period and then the period of the first words. The speech comprehension period is listed next. The main topic of the bachelor thesis supports the development through the stimulation of auditory perception in early childhood. The thesis consists of three chapters, two of them are theoretical and the last one is practical. The theoretical part of the bachelor thesis defines basic terms such as speech, language, and communication. Further, it describes the ontogenesis of speech, language and communication in early childhood. The ontogenesis of speech, language and communication is described by two different authors. The next chapter of the theoretical part introduces auditory perception. This chapter also includes a description of the anatomy and physiology of the ear, auditory perception development, and areas of auditory perception. The research part of the bachelor thesis is research based on qualitative methods. The research method used in the bachelor thesis is case studies. Case studies were processed with the help of other research techniques. The topic of this bachelor thesis is the possibilities of development of partial functions in children with developmental language disorder in preschool age. The thesis is structured in four chapters, three theoretical and one practical. The first chapter is devoted to the description of the preschool child and is divided into subchapters that introduce ontogenetic speech development, impaired communication skills and school maturity. The second chapter deals with developmental language disorder and includes aetiology, symptomatology, diagnosis and speech therapy. The third chapter defines the concept of sub-functions and lists the different areas such as auditory perception, visual perception, motor skills, thinking, attention, memory, speech, language and communication. Speech Therapy Intervention for Bilingual and Multilingual with Speech and Language Disorders

The thesis in the field of special education and speech therapy focuses on the issue of speech therapy intervention for bilingual and multilingual children with impaired communication abilities. The theoretical part characterizes the psychomotor development in intact monolingual children. Additionally, attention is given to bilingualism and multilingualism in relation to the development issues in early childhood and preschool age, as well as interventions for these children with impaired communication abilities. The empirical part employs qualitative research methods. It describes the process of selecting respondents, the methodology of the research survey, and its progress, as well as the characteristics of the research sample. This was consisted of preschool and early school-aged children with communication disorders from bilingual and multilingual backgrounds. Individual case studies of the observed children provide a clear overview of the research sample. Semi-structured interviews were used for data collection, subsequently analysed using elements of grounded theory design. The diploma thesis is elaborated on the speech therapy topic, the specifics of speech therapy intervention for people suffering from Huntington's disease. It consists of a theoretical part, in which, within three chapters, the reader is gradually introduced to the diagnosis of Huntington's disease and general knowledge about the history and etiology of the disease, the occurring symptoms and diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. The second chapter discusses impaired communication skills in people with Huntington's disease. Summarizes findings on cognitive-communication disorders, dysarthria and dysphagia. The third chapter deals with findings about speech therapy intervention itself for the clients in question. In its content, it discusses both the requirements and possibilities of diagnosis of the mentioned deglutition and communication disorders, as well as knowledge regarding the provision of speech therapy according to the present communication disorders and swallowing disorders. Specifics of speech and language therapy intervention in adults after stroke

The thesis focuses on the specifics of speech therapy intervention in adults after stroke in the acute and subacute phase of the disease. The thesis is divided into two main parts, namely the theoretical part and the empirical part. The theoretical part of the thesis defines the concept of stroke and summarizes the knowledge in the field of etiology, symptomatology, diagnosis and prevention. It also defines the individual communication disorders associated with stroke (i.e. aphasia, dysarthria, dyspraxia, dysphagia and cognitive-communication disorders), their classification, aetiology, symptomatology, diagnosis and therapy. The empirical part of the thesis is focused on a qualitative research investigation, the main aim of which is to identify and describe the specifics of speech therapy intervention in people after stroke in the acute and subacute phase of the disease, when the patient is hospitalized in a hospital. The main objective of the bachelor's thesis is to identify and describe the development of auditory perception in a selected ordinary kindergarten. The specific goals of the thesis were to determine and describe the advantages and disadvantages of auditory perception development in the given kindergarten and to present the most common aids and activities used to foster auditory perception. The theoretical part of the thesis consists of three chapters, providing a foundation for the practical part of the work. This bachelor thesis deals with the issue of developmental language disorder and the support of pupils with this disorder in the educational environment of a mainstream primary school. The thesis focuses on the characteristics of developmental language disorder, its etiology, symptomatology, diagnosis and therapy. It also addresses the specific speech, language and communication needs of school-age pupils and their development in the school environment. In the context of inclusive education, the principles of inclusive pedagogy and the possibilities of primary education for pupils with developmental language disorders are described, including support from school counselling centres and individual education plans. The main aim of the research work was to analyse the possibilities of supporting pupils with developmental language disorder in mainstream primary school. The research investigation was carried out using a quantitative questionnaire survey. The questionnaire was sent to 224 primary schools in the Zlín region. A total of 104 respondents completed it.
