Kavánek, Jakub ; Sato, Alexej (advisor) ; Bolotov, Ilya (referee)
The subject of this thesis is foreign trade between the Czech Republic and the Russian Federation. In the policy document 'Export Strategy of the Czech Republic for the period 2012 -- 2020', prepared by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Russian Federation features amongst the top twelve priority countries for Czech export. The aim of this thesis is to confirm the accuracy of the Russian Federation's designation as a priority export country for the Czech Republic by analysing the trade relations between both countries for the past twenty years, by assessing the status of the governmental support regarding Czech export to the Russian Federation and establishing the overall trade potential of the Russian market. The findings indicate that the Russian market offers many advantages for Czech exporters, including long tradition of mutual business relations, well-known quality of Czech products, similar culture and wide-ranging governmental support. In conclusion, despite certain risks posed by the Russian economy, and, providing that the Czech government improves its export support for small and medium enterprises, the Russian Federation can represent an even more important, long-term business partner for the Czech Republic. This thesis is particularly suitable for those interested in a closer acquaintance with the development and current state of foreign trade between the Czech Republic and the Russian Federation.
