The Relationship Between Attachment, Personality and Subjective Well-Being
Karvai, Martin ; Blatný, Marek (advisor) ; Dragomirecká, Eva (referee)
Existing research suggests that personality and attachment predict subjective well-being. However, few studies have examined the relationships between all three concepts. The present masters thesis aims to replicate one of these studies, namely the study by Kwon and Choi (2022). The results of their study showed that avoidant attachment moderates the relationship between extraversion and subjective well-being. The theoretical section introduces the mentioned concepts: attachment, personality from the Big Five perspective, and subjective well-being. In this section, the relationships between the variables under study are further described. The research section presents a replication study that extends the original research of Kwon and Choi (2022) by adding additional hypotheses that relate to the interaction of attachment and neuroticism. A total of 187 college students participated in the study (mean age = 22,7 years, SD = 2,6 years). Results of multiple regression analyses indicated that avoidant attachment did not moderate the relationship between extraversion and subjective well-being. Thus, the effect reported in Kwon and Choi's (2022) study could not be replicated. One of the tested interactions was statistically significant, but in the opposite direction than predicted by the hypothesis....
