Regional Insight into Tax revenues in the Czech Republic
Kůs, Jan ; Feřtrová, Marie (advisor) ; Csank, Pavel (referee)
The main goal of this work, which is devoted to an issue of regional impacts of taxation policy, is an initial survey of a regional variability of tax collection in the Czech Republic. A principal part of the thesis is a quantitative analysis of the tax collection and an evaluation of distribution of the tax burden among individual regions in the Czech Republic. Because of rather deficient data base suitable for investigation of this field, an important aim of the work is its critical evaluation and consideration of its relevance. Little attention has been given to this subject in a social geography research so far, therefore a theoretical part of the work is substantial: various approaches towards taxation are discussed from the perspective of fundamental economical schools and selected theories of the regional development, the most important requirements of tax systems are compared from the viewpoint of a theory of public finances and finally, posibilites, practice and significance of use of taxation instruments are explained for needs of regional policy makers.
Current problems of Czech prison service seen from the released prisoners point of view.
KŮS, Jan
The Bachelor Thesis "Topical Problem of the Czech Prison System from the Viewpoint of the Persons Released from Prison" aims to make a contribution to the discussion on the topical problems of the Czech prison system, also with respect to opinions of the released prisoners. This approach is surely extraordinary but I suppose that it is an interesting aspect of this scope of problems, which are very controversy among the experts as well as laymen. The first part of the work presents (following a brief historic background) a description of topical problems of the Czech prison system, which are frequently discussed in both professional and popular press, in other media as well as small talks of ordinary people. The main part however consists in a thorough survey of opinions of the people who experienced the Czech prison as prisoners, and now, after having been released, they endeavour to be re-integrated into our free society. I am sure that the work is significant for development of the Czech theory and practice of the prison service. This is mainly because the work points out the fact that the on-going reformation of the prison system should also consider the opinions of the persons who experienced the prison as prisoners. In the conclusion, some original recommendations are formulated in order to optimize the process of imprisonment in the Czech Republic based on the data ascertained.

Mental Health Care and Financing in the Czech Republic
Kůs, Jan ; Poláková, Olga (advisor) ; Jeřábková, Silvie (referee)
The bachelor thesis deals with mental health as a specific and significant part of the health in general. The thesis analyzes mental health determinants and contemporary socioeconomic factors, which are negatively affecting the state of mind and are increasing the probability of occurence of mental disorder. Based on analyzis, the thesis is finding out that the current state organizational structure in mental health care in the Czech Republic mismatches with The World Health Organization's recommendations. Despite some notable efforts trying to restructure the system, changes leading to community service based model are very slow. The crucial part of the thesis is focused on analyzing the mental health expenditures of the General Health Fund during years 2006 to 2012. The major part of mental health expenditures lead to specialized hospitals. The results are confirming the dominant role of the psychiatric hospitals within the mental health care in the Czech Republic.
Public budgets outcomes and the course of the political cycle in the Czech Republic in years 1993-2010
Kůs, Jan ; Ševčík, Miroslav (advisor) ; Říhová, Vladimíra (referee)
The aim of the thesis is to find possible connections between the financial results of public budgets and the course of the political cycle in the Czech Republic. The analysis for the period of 1993 - 2010 focuses initially on the development of the overall deficit; subsequently the development of selected items of public revenues and expenditures is investigated. A fundamental part of the work is the separation of the cyclical deficit, arising from fluctuations in economic activity and the structural deficit, which is produced through specific measures of government fiscal policy. The results of the analysis indicate that with the approaching elections, there was a greater release of the fiscal policy. During the second half of the electoral cycles have also been reported higher structural deficits. However, the differences are not high enough to be considered as statistically significant.
