Notice in the French employment law compared with the employment law in the Czech republic
Regulatory mechanisms of CD47 surface expression
Jakubec, Martin ; Drbal, Karel (advisor) ; Dibus, Michal (referee)
CD47 glycoprotein can be found on the surface of all healthy cells in our body. The interaction of CD47 with inhibitory receptor SIRPα on the macrophage leads to the inhibition of phagocytosis. This makes CD47 irreplaceable for the safe recognition of own cells and removal of aged or apoptotic cells. Apart from this, CD47 plays a major role in several essential signalling pathways, such as cell adhesion and motility or calcium homeostasis. The level of CD47 expression and its presence on the cell membrane depends not only on the type of tissue, but also on the age of a cell. An increased expression of CD47 protein has also been observed in the cells undergoing tumorigenic transformation, allowing them to escape from tumour immunosurveillance. Spontaneous regulation of the CD47 gene expression is achieved via regulatory transcription factors, such as NF-κB or HIF-1. Another mechanism of CD47 regulation includes the 3'UTR of CD47 mRNA, which serves as a binding site for either regulatory proteins, such as HuR, or miRNAs. CD47 expression can thus be regulated on both transcriptional, as well as translational level. However, appropriate topological CD47 localization within the cell and on the cell surface has also an important effect of its physiological function. Our in depth understanding of key regulatory...
Visible Light Promoted Derivatizations of Helicenes.
Jakubec, Martin ; Storch, Jan ; Ghosh, I. ; König, B.
We developed new reductive and oxidative approaches to late-stage derivatization exploiting intrinsic photochemistry of helicenes with emphasis on the use of very simple and readily available bromo- and aminohelicenes.

Role of enteric alpha-defensins in inflammatory bowel disease
Jakubec, Martin ; Filipp, Dominik (advisor) ; Krulová, Magdaléna (referee)
Human intestine represents an essential immune organ that creates the largest interface between our immune system and microbiota from the environment. Considerable parts of the intestine are often severely damaged during Crohn's disease (CD), chronic inflammatory condition with a rising incidence in the western countries. Outbreak of intestinal inflammation is associated with the loss of intestinal homeostasis, co-manifested as a microbial dysbiosis. It is yet unknown whether this bacterial dysbiosis is the cause of intestinal inflammation, or rather it's consequence. In healthy individuals, the homeostatic relationship is greatly influenced by Paneth cells (PC). These cells produce and secrete a wide variety of antimicrobial proteins and peptides, such as enteric α-defensins, that constantly shape the composition of intestinal microbiota. Unsurprisingly, defects in PC's functioning have been linked to the development of CD. Here, we build on our previously published data which showed that a defect in immune central tolerance is the cause of PC depletion. Due to phenotypic and functional resemblance, we hypothesized that such depletion of PCs could constitute a trigger for the development of CD in at least a subset of these patients. This thesis represents a case control study of newly diagnosed...
Photochemical Derivatization of Helicenes.
Jakubec, Martin
Helicenes are a class of polyaromatic compounds that have been increasingly studied over the past years. Their chirality, extended π-system and other intriguing characteristics make them worth exploiting in various fields of chemistry and material science.

Photochemical Derivatization of Helicenes.
Jakubec, Martin ; Ghosh, I. ; Storch, Jan ; König, B.
This work is focused on the use of simple helicene derivatives as substrates for modern photochemical methods. Halogen containing substrates are transformed in the reductive pathway to helicenyl radicals, before being trapped by different radical traps. In the oxidative pathway, activated alkoxyhelicenes undergo photoredox catalyzed reactions, yielding various carbon-carbon, as well as carbon-heteroatom containing compounds.\n

Understanding the Principles of Diastereomeric Complexes of Chiral Urea Derivatives.
Cuřínová, Petra ; Jakubec, Martin ; Storch, Jan ; Holakovský, R.
The main target of this work based on the NMR studies is to elucidate the structural principles which are responsible for the action of the chiral selectors at hand, and thus to be able to predict the new promising structures useful as NMR shift reagents.
