Quality of life in rheumatoid arthritis patients

The diploma thesis deals with the quality of life with rheumatic diseases. The thesis focuses on patients suffering from rheumatoid arthritis (RA) in particular, since the rheumatic diseases are the most common chronic inflammatory rheumatoid disease spread worldwide. The aim of the diploma thesis is to explore the physical quality of life with RA of selected patients aged from 19 to 70 years. The theoretical part offers a literature review on the stated topic with focus on the quality of life with RA. The second part offers the results of a quantitative research which was conducted using a questionnaire in a rheumatologist´s office in Saint Anna Faculty Hospital in Brno and in the Hodonin Spa. The HAQ-DI index; GARS questionnaire; a visual-analogical scale rating the intensity of pain and DAS28 score assessing the activity of hospitals were used to achieve the aim. Two research hypotheses were proposed in order to conduct the research: 1. The patients who have been suffering from RA for up to five years will achieve significantly more positive score; 2. The differences between genders in the physical quality of life will be statistically more important. The hypotheses were statistically verified using the IBM SPSSS Statistics 24 software. The results of the thesis suggest, that the quality of life with RA is influenced by pain, which is more intense for women. We also claim that the patients suffering from RA might be less self-reliant, therefore, most of them are dependent on help of others or they need to use various devices. Furthermore, the results show that gender provides statistically crucial differences in the physical quality of life. The outcomes found by this thesis can be used for patients suffering from RA; to raise awareness of the disease and its impact on life.

Realization of synergies in international mergers and acquisitions

The volume of mergers and acquisitions in 2014 amounted to 3.6 trillion USD. Acquisition activity over the previous year increased by 26 % and the volume of mergers and acquisitions was the third highest in history after 2007 and 2006. The constantly increasing number of mergers and acquisitions and an increase in the volume of capital required for the realization of transactions stand in stark contrast to the high rate of failure. The primary motive for international mergers and acquisitions is the realization of synergies. The paper analyzes in detail the factors that influence the success of international mergers and acquisitions, especially strategic fit, cultural fit and integration. It also analyzes the motives which lead to realization of those transactions and how they relate to the realization of synergies. The results of previous studies are presented in the theoretical part, practical part is focused on a specific acquisition of Anheuser-Busch, which is part of the global brewing group Anheuser-Busch InBev, which in 2014 bought a small Czech brewery - Pivovar Samson.

The comparison of the macroeconomic indicators of the biggest world economies with the focus on EU

The bachelor thesis deals with the economic situation of the European Union, which is currently facing a big crisis. The economic trend in the EU is studied in 2003 -- 2012 and compared with the economic situation in the USA and Japan. All three economies are analyzed by selected macroeconomic indicators - development of GDP, unemployment and inflation rate. The thesis shows how individual countries reacted to the economic downturn, which was caused by the crisis in 2008. It studies the economic position of analyzed economies nowadays and the final part aims to predict the situation in future.

Life and the main piano works of Josef Suk

The objective of my bachelor´s thesis was elaboration of the main piano works by Josef Suk, how is described already in the title of my work. I endeavoured to do a factual and interesting insight in his piano pieces. My solution of conception of my thesis is following: I´ ve resolved my bachelor´s thesis into two crucial subsections. Because of my interest of Josef Suk´s life - for his studying at Prague Conservatory, his working and activities in Czech quartette or his affinity for Antonín Dvořák, I´ ve decided to be more concentrated for this in the first subsection. Then I was writing about his main piano pieces, particularly about his cycles in the second subsection. In some parts I again came back to some of his life´s periods, which are connected with thereinafter works. At the close I´ ve tried to compile my finding and the aspects which I wanted to explain.
