Nutritional intervention in patients with metabolic syndrome
Kuchtová, Monika ; Sucharda, Petr (advisor) ; Hlavatý, Petr (referee)
The metabolic syndrome is a complex of diseases, which can be referred to lifestyle diseases. It is particularly an arterial hypertension, specific dyslipidemia (increased triglycerides and reduced HDL- cholesterol), abnormal glucose metabolism (insulin resistance, prediabetes and diabetes mellitus 2. type) and obesity with abdominal fat placement. In theoretic part bachelor's work present state of cognition about metabolic syndrome is described and particularly the possibility of influencing its development by non-pharmacological intervention. The practical part be aimed to a General Practitioner, which play the key role in searching of high-risk patients for development of MS. An attitude of doctors and success rate of co-operation with patients is found out in questionnaire survey. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
Effect of fatty acids on lipid metabolism and weight reduction
Hlavatý, Petr ; Kunešová, Marie (advisor) ; Müllerová, Dana (referee) ; Flachs, Pavel (referee)
Fat tissue plays a main role in the development of the metabolic syndrome. Many components of the metabolic syndrome may be improved by dietary arrangements, including an increased intake of n-3 PUFA. In addition to the positive effect of n-3 PUFA, a possible effect of a higher calcium intake on influencing weight loss and energy metabolism has also been discussed for a long time. In addition to nutritional factors, genetic factors significantly contribute to influencing weight and lipid and glucose metabolism. In study A, 40 obese women were observed during three weeks of weight reduction management. Women were randomly divided into two groups. The first group received yogurt enriched with n-3 PUFA, and the second group consumed yoghurt without the supplementation. The results show that low-dose supplementation with n-3 PUFA in yogurt in combination with a reduced energy intake increases n-3 PUFA content in serum lipids and prevents adverse changes in the composition of FA in serum after a short-term low-calorie diet. In study B, we monitored the influence of n-3 PUFA supplementation on short-term weight management with VLCD in 20 women with severe obesity, who were randomly divided into two groups. The first group received VLCD enriched with n-3 PUFA, the second group VLCD with a placebo. The addition of...

Rossini's biography and work: Bassoon Concerto and Issue of Autorship
Hlavatý, Petr ; SEIDL, Jiří (advisor) ; HERMAN, František (referee)
Gioacchino Rossini, who lived from 1792 to 1868, was the author of 39 operas, various works of sacred music, cantatas and other vocal and instrumental compositions and various smaller pieces, which are called Péchés de Vieillesse (Sins of Old Age). He worked mainly in Italy and France. He interrupted his compositional activity in 1829 and to the end of his life just composed mostly minor and occasional pieces. Typical features of his works are melodically creative themes, sotto voce alternating with fortissimo full orchestra, the accompaniment alternating bass and themes starting sixteenth value followed a half note (or their variations). Bassoon Concerto, whose autorship is not yet confirmed, was probably written between 1845-48 for the bassoonist Nazzareno Gatti for one of his final exams at lyceum of music. From detailed analysis of the work can not be concluded that the concert is completely original work of Rossini. Today, the most valued works are that written in the style of Italian opera buffa (eg. The Barber of Seville).
