Achievement motivation in cycling

Title: Achievement motivation in cycling Aims: Main aim of this thesis was find out what motivates cyclists in achieving. I have used questionnaire LMI (Achievement motivation questionnaire) for cyclist on different level. Next step was comparing the results between all cyclists groups and describing main differences in motivation. Methods: For gaining all the data I used a questionnaire method. Questionnaires were spread in written form as well as in electronic form. I cooperated with the directors of amateur competitons in the Czech Republic, Czech Cycling Federation and other cyclistic unions. Respondent's answers were elaborated descriptively and analyticly by standardized statistics methods in software SPSS 17. Results: In the research were compared three cycling groups: Amateurs, Professionals and Hobby cyclists. In four of ten dimensions was confirmed different results in motivational structure. Results interpretation has shown that profesionals tend to trust in their success and dispose by biggest competition and ambition. The only dimension where amateur cyclists achieved significantly higher values opposite to professionals was in internality. Analysis of sporting career of members of the cyclo-cross youth center Tabor

Title: Analysis of sporting career of members of the cyclo-cross youth center Tábor Objectivess: The aim of my thesis is to find out what are the most common causes of the exodus of young children from SCM Tabor and to suggest how to prevent premature termination of a career. Methods: I used a systematic opinion poll asking as the main research method for data collection, using open and closed questions. For purpose of research sample, 27 cyclist were included as an active and inactive respondents from SCM Tabor. All respondents were male with the age range between 14-33 years old. I was sending out questionnaires via e-mail or I have met concerned respondents in person. Based on the answers I came up with results and I converted them into text and graphs in the thesis. Results: The results showed that most of young cyclists career end due to loss of motivation for training and for improving performance, thus responded 10 respondents, 45%. Six respondents, 27% of the total, pointed out as the reason for termination the failure in their sport career. Another two had as a reason to end financial problems in the family, furthermore one pointed out injury as a reason. Retrospective analysis of results of elite contestant on a mountain bike in the student age.

Title: Retrospective analysis of results of elite contestant on a mountain bike in the student age. Objectives: The aim was to find out if they were the best racers in elite category of mountain biking successful even in pupil 's categories or moved near the bottom of the timesheets. Methods: For obtain the data we performed a retrospective analysis. For data collection we used the questionnaire method, where we focused on Czech racers who are the leaders in the Olympic disciplines of cross-country, marathon discipline and compared them with the top of the world. Results: A retrospective analysis provide information about the beginnings, progress and results of elite racing competition of mountain bike in junior categories. We found that elite mountain bike racers in the categories of pupils did not achieve such success as it is now in the elite category. Their training corresponded with natural evolution that is way the competitors in the elite category are successful and they are able to continue their careers that serve a good stable performance over a long period of time.
