Studie odtokových poměrů vybraného povodí pomocí hydrologického modelování
Gottwaldová, Petra
The diploma thesis "Study of runoff conditions of selected river basin using hydrological modeling" deals with analysis of runoff conditions and retention abilities of the Kašnice stream basin in the Břeclav district. The theoretical part deals with the literature review of the issue and the characteristics of the selected drainage area. Obtained information about surface cover types, hydrologic soil groups and CN curves numbers were processed in ArcGIS. The outputs were then used as input for the DesQ-MAXQ hydrological model. The resulting values of specific flow, time of concentration, potential retention, water retention and direct runoff volumes are presented in the form of attached map outputs. The result of the work is the evaluation of runoff conditions of the given 4th order river basin.

Gottwaldová, Petra ; Karlas, Jan (advisor) ; Parízek, Michal (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with the impacts of the performance of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) on the effectiveness of multilateral negotiations in the World Trade Organization (WTO). In the introduction, I present the theoretical framework of the whole thesis which is based on the approach of Victor Kremenyuk and his definition of basic analytical elements of multilateral negotiation. Further, I describe the development of the relationship between the WTO and NGOs and I also introduce the various options of involvement of NGOs into the work of the WTO including the NGOs' activities by means of which they influence the negotiation effectiveness. Through the analysis of the NGOs' performance at the ministerial conferences in Singapore (1996), Geneva (1998) and Seattle (1999) I explore the participation, options of involvement and activities of NGOs. On a concrete case of NGOs' campaign for the acceptance of the commitment to respect the basic labour standards in WTO I examine the impacts of the NGOs' performance on particular elements of negotiation - actors and their strategies, issues, structure, process and outcomes of the negotiation. In the last part of this thesis I assess the overall performance of NGOs and consequently analyze its impacts on the effectiveness of multilateral...
Aspects of the relationship of the U.S. president with the American public
Gottwaldová, Petra ; Kotábová, Věra (advisor) ; Váňa, Tomáš (referee)
This thesis deals with the mutual relationship of the U.S. president with American public. Within this theme I investigate the ways in which the public expresses its opinion of the president, and which factors and issues influence presidential public ratings. Further, I analyze the relationship of the president with the public from the other side - it means communication strategies which the president employs in order to gain support of public opinion. An essential part of public relations is focusing public attention on a concrete issue of the president's agenda and subsequent framing of public debate about it. Through this process, the president can determine preferences which the public uses during their evaluation of the president's job. The media play an important role in forming public opinion, therefore my thesis deals with the president's approach to the media and with his communication with them as well. From the view of the Rottinghaus's theory of public opinion leadership, I analyze particular methods of presidential public relations and their potential influence on the growth of public support. The last point of my thesis is the role of the public support in the policy-making process, particularly in promoting presidential proposals in Congress, and also in a situation when the...
