Testing of sintered carbide cutting tools during high feed milling
Frank, Ondřej ; Vítek, Jiří (referee) ; Sedlák, Josef (advisor)
The aim of this thesis is to compare high feed milling tools from Dormer Pramet, s.r.o., which will use these results to complete the development process of a new family of tools. The tools were compared in terms of axial runout, chip evacuation and chip forming, temperature ratios and temperatures at the cutting area, roughness of machined surfaces and machine spindle loading, machining vibration levels and VBD cutting edge durability. The tests were carried out on the machined material X37CrMoV5-1 in two states, a soft state with a hardness of about 300 HB and a hardened state with a hardness of about 54 HRC. The thesis also includes a theoretical section dealing with high feed milling technology, tool wear and a description of the tested tools. The results obtained are summarized at the end of the thesis in a techno-economic evaluation.
Proposal for methodology of testing sintered carbide cutting tools during high feed milling
Frank, Ondřej ; Binder, Martin (referee) ; Sedlák, Josef (advisor)
The aim of the bachelor thesis is to evaluate and compare the properties of a selected type of milling cutter from the company Dormer Pramet, s.r.o. and several competing milling cutters with replaceable inserts for high feed milling. The first part deals with an introduction to the issue of high feed milling and the characteristics of replaceable inserts made of sintered carbides. The second part of the thesis deals with the description of selected types of milling cutters used in experimental tests, the characteristics of machined materials and used instrments. The third main part deals with the measurement and results of the performed cutting tests. In the end, the results are evaluated in the technical-economic evaluation.
