New identity for locality of three synagogues in Velké Meziříčí
Marek, Vojtěch ; Fránek, Zdeněk (referee) ; Mléčka, Jan (advisor)
the Jewish community of Velké Meziříčí has acquired urban and regional significance, which lasted until the middle of the 20th century. Dominant of the Jewish ghetto was a complex of three synagogues originating from different periods. To the present day, two synagogues, the Old Synagogue from 1695 and the New Synagogue built in pseudo-gothic style between 1868-1870 based on August Prokop´s design, have been preserved. The location of the three synagogues is a very unsettled urban whole, which is poorly accessible and creates the atmosphere of a special and inhospitable place. The centerpiece of the site is a new synagogue, which now serves as a Vietnamese marketplace. The aim of the diploma thesis was to restore the values of the cultural area of the three synagogues and to define the new functional use of the buildings in connection with the living urban structure with the insertion of new architectural forms.

583/5000 The city grows extensively - it creates rings around it. As a result, it leads to the formation of urban sprawl in the scale of entire cities. There is a density paradox - while the city is growing, its population density is decreasing. Due to a chronic lack of intensity (which evokes a feeling of "normal") occurs at the slightest hint hallucinations. Normality becomes a powerful drug. A typical plan must reflect all the needs of Homo Civitatis. They must transform from open space offices to its original intent. In a regular interval duplication typical plan discontinued and replaced with public space.
GENIUS THEATRI, České Budějovice
Čučka, Pavel ; Fránek, Zdeněk (referee) ; Marek, Jiří (advisor)
České Budějovice struggles with unsuitable spaces for the Theatre and the Philharmonic. It is also confronted with urbanistic challenges of underused public spaces. This diploma thesis sets out to remedy these challenges and offer a possible solution through the design of Platform of live arts – opera and philharmonic halls at Mariánské náměstí. I approach this problematic area with an effort of creating a distinctive feature, that propagates new spatial relationships and changes the existing perception of space. The center of gravity, two performance halls, are placed in the utmost tip of the plot in confrontation with historical skyline of the old city. Counterweight of this expansive volume is a park, theatrical gardens at the opposite and. The idea is to preserve quality free space around which similar institutions might find their place in the future, thus creating a cultural oasis.
