Asian Financial Linkages: The Case of Japan
Fialová, Anežka ; Horváth, Roman (advisor) ; Turnovec, František (referee)
This work reviews the topic of international financial linkages, including theoretical definitions and the main methodological approaches of the empirical measurement based on vector autoregressive models. One of the approaches, the Spillover Index methodology based on Diebold & Yilmaz (2009), is then used to analyze the developments of financial linkages of the Japanese stock market in the period from 1995 to 2012. The attention is paid both to the relations with western developed economies and within the region of East Asia. The main contribution of this paper is the fact that it comprises a complete review of international relations of Japanese stock market during the era of unprecedented financial liberalization. The results of the empirical study confirm the opening of Japanese stock markets towards foreign influence. Even though USA have been the major driving force behind the movements in East Asian stock markets, Japan has become a significant regional player, whose influence on East Asian countries has been growing. The developments in the Japanese stock market are on the other hand driven solely by the western developed countries, which further supports the view of Japan as the regional financial leader.
Physiological nutrition of adolescents and their knowledge of principles of healthy eating
Fialová, Anežka ; Křížová, Jarmila (advisor) ; Krausová, Adela (referee)
This thesis deals with the topic of Physiological nutrition of adolescents and their knowledge of healthy eating principles and habits. The theoretical part of this paper defines the term adolescence and explains the characteristics of this period in one's life. It focuses on the physiological nutrition issue of this developmental period and all of the fundamental parts of nutrition are mentioned and studied. Another confronted issue is the problematic eating in adolescents, the risks alternative diets may bring, and the appearance of obesity and food intake disorders. In the practical part I investigated how informed Czech high school student are about the principles of healthy eating habits. The investigation sums up results of a quantitive method using a questionnaire. 45 high school students participated in the study; they were all in their last year of Czech high school. The hypotheses involved aspects of important components of the diet. The study presents the raw knowledge students obtain during their lives about a healthy diet. The results show that there are only a few areas of nutrition where the students are informed, nevertheless, there are other areas little to no information is passed on to the students inside the schools curriculum. In general, the results are reasonably positive,...

Regional Integration of Japanese Foreign Trade
Fialová, Anežka ; Sýkora, Jan (advisor) ; Labus, David (referee)
BACHELOR THESIS Regional Integration of Japanese Foreign Trade Anežka Fialová, 2013 Abstract This work summarizes the development of geographical linkages of Japanese foreign trade on the turn of the 20th century. Its main goal is to investigate, whether there is a clear departure from the dependency on the western economies (US, EU) towards the region of East Asia. Theoretically the work builds on the concept of economic decoupling. At the same time it also mentions the problem of applicability of this concept in the region given the vertical integration of the East Asian trade. Methodologically is the work based on an analytical approach to statistical data and existing literature. Apart from the macroeconomic indicators such as trade volumes, main commodities and foreign trade policy, the influence of the microeconomic factors (mainly the behavior of the Japanese MNC) on the international linkages of the Japanese foreign trade is examined. The results show that the importance of the regional trade is increasing relatively to the extra regional trade. However this process has just begun and it is therefore too early to speak about economic decoupling.

Empirical analysis of the Linder hypothesis : the case of Japan
Fialová, Anežka ; Semerák, Vilém (advisor) ; Průša, Jan (referee)
The aim of this work is to test empirically the validity of the Linder Trade Hypothesis for the case of Japan in the period 1980-2007. While the theoretical part presents summary of Linder Trade Theory as well as an overview of empirical studies dealing with Linder Hypothesis, for the purpose of the empirical part a gravity type model for panel data was constructed. For estimation in GRETL software the fixed effect method with HAC robust standard errors covariance matrix was used. As the main innovation in the testing approach the author considers two facts. Firstly it is the very nature of Japan itself that, as an island country separated geographically from its trading partners, offers an ideal object to test the Linder Hypothesis, because the main weakness of the precedent tests has been the inability to deal with geographical clustering. And secondly it is the method of testing that uses panel data, which helps to account for individual features of partner countries. The study does not come with any definite results as it tackles low statistical significance of estimates, but it provides reader with thorough theoretical summary of the problem.
