State of geomorphological research in the year 2013
Máčka, Z. ; Havlíček, M. ; Demek, J. ; Kirchner, Karel
Meetings of not only geomorphologists, but also other Earth science researchers at annual geomorphological conferences State of geomorphological research organized under the auspecies of Czech Association of Geomorphologists have already became a tradition. The geomorphologists and other specialists from universities, research and commercial institutions who met in town of Mikulov presented recent research results on character, genesis and dynamics of landscape, from either of theoretical or applied point of view. The presented papers came all over the central European countries – Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Austria, Hungary, and Slovenia. Abstract proceedings consist from presented lectures, posters as well as excursion guide.
Ice caves (Podyjí National Park)
Demek, J. ; Hubatka, F. ; Kirchner, Karel ; Kuda, F.
Excursion guide deals with the unique site – Ice caves in the western part of the Podyjí National Park. Unloading of bedrock after incision of the Dyje/Thaya R. (and maybe an earthquake) caused rockslides, opening of fissures and formation of several hundred of meters long and tens of meters deep pseudokarst caves. Due to special microclimatic conditions cave ice remains in pseudokarst caves up to August. Quantitative measurements of gravitational movements are carried out in caves and in block fields.

New geomorphologic regionalization of the Czech republic – 2005
Mackovčin, P. ; Cibulková, P. ; Demek, J. ; Havlíček, M. ; Kirchner, Karel ; Slavík, P.
In Agency of Nature Conservation and Landscape Protection of Czech Republic decided to create new digital map of geomorphological regions of Czech Republic using ArcView GIS methodology. The scale 1:500 000 was chosen for a new map based on digital map product ArcČR 500. The authors distinguished 10 geomorphological systems, 27 geomorphological subsystems, 93 regions, 268 subregions and 935 wards. The map was printed in colours and will be part of prepared second edition of Geographical Gazetteers of Czech Republic – Lowlands and Mountains and of Landscape Atlas of Czech Republic.

National Park Podyjí (Czech Republic): landscape-ecological units of the protected zone of the 1st order
Kirchner, Karel ; Cibulková, P. ; Demek, J. ; Havlíček, M. ; Škorpík, M.
In the frame of the Dyje R. valley were delimited 12 landscape-ecologial units for nature protection, landscape management and detailed study. Authors are dealing with methods of delimitation, especially from the point-of-view of the state of preservation of biota. In the paper are characterized individual landscape-ecological units.
To distribution of Quaternary sediments on the Červený kopec (Red Hill) in Brno.
Demek, J. ; Havlíček, M. ; Kirchner, Karel ; Nehyba, S. ; Lisá, L.
Complex of Quaternary sediments was exposed on the SE slope of the Červený kopec (Red Hill) in the southern part of the Brno city. The Hill bedrock is composed of red quartzose conglomerates and arkoses of Lower Devonian age (“Old Red”). The authors found several bodies of fluvial gravels and sands in the exposure deposited as river terraces by the Svratka river. The highest gravel body (surface cca 241 m, base cca 235 m a.s.l.) can be compared with Tuřany terrace of the Svitava R. dated paleontologically into Danubian Period.
Contribution to the knowledge of fluvial terraces in the Červený kopec Hill in the Brno
Kirchner, Karel ; Demek, J. ; Havlíček, J. ; Nehyba, M.
Contribution deals with finding of fluvial gravels of the Svratka River in the Červený kopec Hill in Brno. We consider gravels as remnants of fluvial terraces and paralelize with the level of Tuřany terrace of the Svitava River – Lower Pleistocene.
