Czechoslovak editorial office of The Voice of America in a witness perspective

This diploma thesis deals with the Czechoslovak editorial office of the Voice of America and its broadcasting. This foreign radio station is an almost unrecognized topic in Czech literature therefore the thesis aims to fill these blanks of the Czechoslovak modern history. The theoretical part focuses on the Voice of America as the official voice of the United States of America and provides a comprehensive information about the Czechoslovak editorial office's functioning based on the available literature. Oral history was chosen as method for this thesis. Previously unknown information was obtained using this methodology. Five narrators were involved in the thesis. Specifically, an interview with Ludvík Čižinsky, a former employee of the Voice of America, was recorded. This interview was followed by four more which offered a completely different perspective, as these were interviews conducted with Czechoslovak VOA's broadcasting listeners. Interviews with Marie Tvrzníková, Karel Kříž, Miroslav Kerouš and Pavel Racocha were recorded. Interpretation of interviews with narrators captures memories and describes experiences with this foreign radio station. Forms of Anti-Semitism within the Czechoslovakian Fascism: Content analysis of the fascist Press 1928-1938

This bachelor thesis deals with anti-Semitism propagated by fascist press of the first Czechoslovak Republic from 1928 till 1938. In the beginning, the bachelor thesis deals with anti-Semitism, its development in Bohemia and Moravia while focusing on the first Czechoslovak Republic or characteristics of anti-Semitism. It also gives a definition of fascism, information about its origin, its specific forms and features. The thesis focuses mainly on the identification of forms of anti-Semitism in printed periodicals of Czechoslovak fascists of the National Fascist Community and Vlajka on the basis of characteristics obtained from reading specialized literature. Specifically, the thesis focuses on religious, social and racial anti- Semitism within the printed publications Říšská stráž (1928-1929), Stráž říše (1929-1932), Fašistické listy (1931-1935) and Vlajka (1928-1938). It compares the amount of anti-Semitic moods in the National Fascist Community and Vlajka mainly on the basis of the occurrence of particular types of anti-Semitism in individual editions of fascist periodicals subjected to content analysis.
