Grapheme-colour and word-colour synaesthesia from a qualitative perspective
Cutychová, Eliška ; Chromý, Jan (advisor) ; Adam, Robert (referee)
The presented bachelor thesis aims to enrich the existing research on synaesthesia that is almost exclusively based experimentally. It focuses on providing detailed qualitative data on the basis of which new hypotheses for follow-up examination will be formulated. The thesis consists of two interconnected parts. In the first, theoretical part, previous papers on grapheme-colour and word-colour synaesthesia will be summarized. These will then be contrasted with the findings from the second, explorative part. The data will be acquired by using semistructured interviews with approximately 15 Czech synesthetes. Such method enables to get thorough information about the nature of their synesthetic experiences and to contrast them with the literature in a field.
