Gender differences in awareness of the problem of domestic violence

The aim of the bachelor thesis is to find out whether there are gender differences in awareness of the problem of domestic violence. The thesis first focuses on defining the issue of domestic violence, its forms (physical, psychological, economic, sexual and social violence) and the actors of domestic violence, i.e. the victim and the perpetrator. It then looks at the consequences of domestic violence for victims and the available sources of help, including police, doctors, intervention centres and other social services. The importance of stereotypes associated with domestic violence, including gender roles and identities, and their impact on victims and perpetrators is also discussed. The aim of the research part is to find out whether gender or an individual's personal experience of domestic violence has an impact on awareness of the issue, and also whether there are differences in the perception of the prevalence of domestic violence in society among gender. Through a quantitative questionnaire survey, the thesis provides insight into gender differences in awareness of domestic violence and contributes to a better understanding of this important social issue. Domains of integration into Czech society: a case study exploring the experience of Ukrainian mothers with temporary protection

The thesis deals with the integration of a group of foreign women into Czech society, specifically Ukrainian mothers who fled to the Czech Republic as a result of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Its aim was to identify the significance of different domains of integration for the target group and to gain a better understanding of the specifics of the integration of this group. To do so, the Agera Strang model (2004a, 2004b, 2008) and an intersectional approach are used. The aim was achieved by conducting two rounds of semi-structured interviews with eight Ukrainian mothers with temporary residence in the Czech Republic, whose transcripts were subjected to thematic and domain analysis (Spradley, 1979). The research shows that the integration process of this group cannot be captured in its entirety without taking into account its levels of disadvantage, which create specific barriers to the integration process. Key barriers to integration produced by structural disadvantage based on motherhood were found, indicating a lack of consideration of the needs of women mothers by integration policy. The film Angry Man - a tool in communication with children about violence in close relationships from the perspective of lectors

The thesis examines how the prevention film Angry Man contributes to communication with children about violence in close relationships. The thesis consists of a theoretical part, which defines the basic concepts related to violence in close relationships, and an empirical part, which presents qualitative research conducted among primary prevention trainers who use the film Angry Man in their work. The main findings of the thesis show that the film Angry Man is an effective tool for promoting discussion about violence, enabling children to express and reflect on emotions and attitudes in the context of violence in close relationships, while the proactive and self-discovery approach of the lecturers and reflection on the environment in which the film is shown are crucial for the film to reach its full potential. Main recommendations for communicating with children about violence include the need for communicators to have a clearly defined attitude towards violence and experience in dealing with emotions, and the use of tools such as prevention films or books can be key to opening up dialogue. It is also important to tailor communication to the individual needs and ages of children, while providing emotional support and supervision for those leading the dialogue.

Accommodation of transgender people in housing facilities of social services

This bachelor's thesis studies how transgender people are accommodated in housing facilities of social services. The thesis aims to find out in which ways housing facilities of social services meet and in which ways do not meet the needs of transgender people in the process of accommodation. As the number of people who openly identify as transgender continues to increase, it is a realistic assumption that the number of openly transgender users of residential social services will be increasing as well. It is therefore necessary to consider the possibilities and ways in which the provision of residential services can be adapted to meet the client's needs without compromising their identity. At present, users of most housing facilities of social services are accommodated based on the gender indicated on their identity cards. However, this type of accommodation may not be in line with the client's perception of self and may therefore represent a barrier to meeting their needs. This is also problematic given that the use of these services may be a response to leaving an environment that was hostile to transgender people. Adressing the Needs of Nursing Home Residents

The thesis focuses on the provision of services in nursing homes. It aims to find out what needs the homes perceive in their clients and how they respond to them. The theoretical part of the thesis introduces the concepts and theories of needs, quality of life in old age and well-being, the topic of the protection of the rights of the elderly and the Quality Standards for Social Services. The research part presents the methodological approach of the study and the research findings. The study is based on semi-structured interviews with social workers of selected homes, which include homes with the highest rating of the Quality Mark certification. As a result of the work, the individual groups of needs are described together with the factors influencing their fulfilment. The psychological stress of being a probation officer and sources of support in coping with this stress

The thesis focuses on the workload of probation officers and their coping resources. The aim of the thesis is to find out what types of activities and situations are the most burdensome for probation officers and what resources they use to cope with these burdens. At the same time, the thesis aims to clarify what probation officers would need from their employer to manage their workload. The first part of the thesis is devoted to the theoretical definition of the concepts of the Probation and Mediation Service of the Czech Republic, workload, workload management and prevention. The second part of the thesis is devoted to the research itself. The aim of the thesis was explored through qualitative research conducted in the form of semi-structured interviews with probation officers across the Czech Republic. A total of 23 male and female probation officers were involved in the analysis. The data collected was analysed using thematic analysis. The research identifies activities and situations that are the most stressful, these are especially indirect work with clients, in direct work with clients these are problematic clients, as well as many clients per one probation officer and the related overload. Factors influencing the decision-making of Ukrainian refugees regarding the choice of destination country

The thesis will examine the motives of Ukrainian refugees that play a role in their decision- making process regarding the choice of whether to stay in the receiving country (the Czech Republic) or continue elsewhere. The theoretical part will introduce the topic of refugees, migration policies, existing research on refugee decision-making of a destination country, current events in Ukraine, and the situation of Ukrainian refugees in the Czech Republic. The empirical part will consist of qualitative research that will include semi-structured interviews with Ukrainian refugees. The main findings of this work are that the Czech Republic is not a transition country for any of the respondents and that the key criteria in the decision-making process of a destination country is age. Furthermore, it shows that the concept of push-pull factors is insufficient for this research. The given founding's tell us that the Czech state will have to deal with the long-term stay of Ukrainian refugees in the Czech Republic, and it will be necessary to come up with a long-term integration plan.

Peer consultants in the system of mental health support services: the journey to peer programs

The master thesis is focused on peer consultants in the field of mental health care and their path to this profession. During the course of research, the topic was expanded to include reasons for staying and leaving. The aim of the paper is to find out how people with mental disease become peer consultants and what factors contribute to their staying in the profession or, conversely, leaving the profession. The research was carried out using qualitative research conducted in the form of semi-structured interviews with peer consultants from psychiatric hospitals, various non-profit organizations and Mental Health Centers. Seven women and 3 men all currently in peer consultant positions were involved in the analysis. The collected dataset was analyzed using open coding. The research identifies positive and negative factors that influence the entry of people with mental illness into the profession. The factors that contribute to entering the profession mainly include concerns about one's own health as a result of the psychological demands of the job, the level of their own Recovery and still also ignorance about the existence of this profession. A resocialization programme for drivers who have committed a crime behind the wheel: a subjective evaluation of the programme by its graduates

(in English): The thesis is focused on a resocialization programme for drivers implemented by a Programme Center under Probation and Mediation Service. The programme is intended for persons who have committed criminal offences in traffic. It is a relatively new institution, both in the field of social work and criminal justice. For this reason, the subjective evaluation of the programme by its graduates, based on semi-structured interviews, became the key for this thesis. The research questions focused on participants' opinions and attitudes towards the programme, suggested changes and the benefits to themselves. The results of the research show a difference in attitudes at the moment of entering and during the programme, while also demonstrating the key role of the group format of the programme. The thesis demonstrated that the programme is at least partially fulfilling its ambition to change participants' attitudes towards risky behaviour and traffic behaviour, suggesting the potential of the programme to enhance prevention and protect society from re-offending. In particular, the programme would benefit in the future from expanding its participants (clientele) and conducting a recidivism survey of end- users of the programme.
