The meaning of life-long education and adult education in contemporary society

In this bachelor thesis The meaning of life-long education and adult education in contemporary society the author concentrates on the topic of how learning and education influences life of an individual as well as of the whole society and further, how is reflected the significance, inscribed to education today, in actual documents, educational concepts and strategies. First part concentrates on four topics: the innate need for knowledge and understanding, social function of education, education and human relations, and work and education. Second part takes a closer look at the conceptions of life-long education and adult education in its context. It deals with the question of support of a human being on his journey of individual development, and drives attention to educational counseling. In the end it briefly summarizes the basic ideas and themes of selected important European and Czech documents from the field of life-long education. A primary goal of this work was not to give a complete sum of information on each topic, neither to bring fundamentaly new ideas. The goal of this work was to make certain overview of topics, look closely into certain problems, express own opinion and bring the readers to think over this important topic of present time.
