Modern energy - possible trends in energy development
Prášek, Tomáš ; Imrichová, Anna (referee) ; Baláš, Marek (advisor)
This thesis deals with modern trends in energy development. The first part describes the technologies currently used for energy production. The next part analyses the energy mixes of selected European countries and the context of their development. In the last part of the thesis a balance calculation of the potential replacement of the Chvaletice coal-fired power plant by a solar power plant with the same annual generation capacity is carried out.
Assessment of heat exchangers replacement
Kocanda, Tomáš ; Baláš, Marek (referee) ; Milčák, Pavel (advisor)
This thesis addresses the issue of heat dissipation from the oil system, specifically the lubricating oil of a diesel generator at a nuclear power plant. The literature review section introduces diesel generators, describes the heat exchangers used, and provides a detailed explanation of the problem in the context of a nuclear power plant. In the computational section, a verification calculation of the existing shell-and-tube oil cooler is first performed, followed by the design of a new plate heat exchanger according to specified parameters without altering the layout. In the final part of the thesis, an analysis of the new design compared to the existing one is conducted, including an evaluation of the layout.
Heat exchanger design for condensing boiler
Plott, Patrik ; Linda, Jakub (referee) ; Baláš, Marek (advisor)
This master's thesis is aimed at the optimization of a gas condensing boiler for domestic heating. The optimization consisted in the design of a new secondary plate heat exchanger for domestic hot water heating using analytical calculation and subsequent CFD simulation of heat transfer and pressure loss. Various designs of plate heat exchangers were proposed. Subsequently, the results of the analytical calculation were compared with the results of the CFD simulation and their mutual conformity with each other was evaluated. After analysing the results of each variant, the proposed plate heat exchanger designs were compared with the currently used heat exchanger. Finally, we identified the best possible solution to replace the current exchanger.
Air heater design
Peřina, Petr ; Toman, Filip (referee) ; Baláš, Marek (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with the design of a suitable variant of air heating for heating a sports hall. Warm exhaust air, heating water and flue gases from the gas boiler are available for air heating. The first part contains an overview of exchangers and devices used for air heating. The second part is focused on the calculation of variants of solutions to the given task. At the end, the proposals are evaluated and the best solution is recommended.
Design of a heat exchangers for cooling process gas
Janoušek, Petr ; Baláš, Marek (referee) ; Toman, Filip (advisor)
Heat exchangers are one of the most used devices in the energy industry. This thesis deals with the overall design of heat exchangers according to the required parameters. Its aim is to perform thermal and hydraulic calculation of two different heat exchangers designed for process gas cooling and compare their resulting design. Specifically, the thesis designs shell and tube heat exchangers, where the first one is an exchanger with straight tube and the second one is an exchanger with U-tubes. The first and second chapters are theoretical sections dealing first with the general issue of heat exchangers and then specifically with shell and tube heat exchangers. The complete design of the straight tube heat exchanger is carried out in chapter three, where its modelled form is also presented. The following chapter deals with the design of the second U-tube exchanger. The final chapter copes with the evaluation and comparison of both types.
Design of a steam boiler for a new municipal waste incineration plant
Maňák, František ; Křemínský, Pavel (referee) ; Baláš, Marek (advisor)
This diploma thesis describes the issue of energy utilization of waste. The first part is focused on the research of legislative requirements, the description of properties of the municipal waste, and attention is also focused on the comparison of present waste-to-energy technologies used in the Czech Republic. The main focus of the diploma thesis is the design of the steam grate boiler for the new waste incineration plant and related activities, such as stoichiometric calculations, heat balance of the boiler, determination of losses and efficiency of the boiler. Emphasis is then placed on the design and calculation of the combustion chamber and the individual heat exchange surfaces in the other stages of the boiler. This is followed by a check of the heat balance of the boiler and evaluation of the calculation accuracy. The final part consists of evaluation of the risk of chlorine corrosion, the formation of which threatens the boiler thermally processing municipal waste, therefore must not be underestimated.
Mobile island photovoltaic system
Zelenka, Petr ; Baláš, Marek (referee) ; Pospíšil, Jiří (advisor)
The mobile island photovoltaic system is a technology designed for electricity generation in locations without traditional electrical grid infrastructure. This compact portable device combines solar panels with batteries and other components, such as charge controllers and inverters. Its mobile nature allows deployment in remote locations (isolated houses, military bases, mountain cottages, campsites) and in emergency situations. The first part of the bachelor's thesis focuses on the issue of generating electrical energy through photovoltaic conversion and its storage in batteries, while the experimental part focuses on measuring the characteristics of photovoltaic panels with different inclinations and shading. It also models the utilization of solar energy under various sunlight conditions. The thesis provides an overall perspective on the importance of mobile island photovoltaic systems and their potential in the field of renewable energy and sustainable development.
Design of the internal circuit of the system for long-term heat removal from NPP hermetic zone
Zemanová, Silvie ; Baláš, Marek (referee) ; Milčák, Pavel (advisor)
The diploma thesis deals with the safety of nuclear power plants and the design of a system for long-term heat removal from the hermetic envelope of the WWER 440 model 213 NPP intended for severe accident management. The thesis contains a description of the course of selected severe accidents and the causes of their occurrence and presents approaches (the concept of defence in depth) and measures (implementation of new systems) by which operators aim to prevent and prepare for their management. The practical part of the diploma thesis is devoted to the design of the piping route of the long-term heat removal system (dimensions, material, wall thickness, layout) and the calculation of the hydraulic losses of this route, it also deals with the conceptual design of the heat exchanger for the above-mentioned emergency system and its thermal calculation.
Heat exchanger design
Skalický, Vojtěch ; Lachman, Jakub (referee) ; Baláš, Marek (advisor)
This bachelor's thesis deals with the design of a heat exchanger for water – air media. In the first part, the principle of the heat exchangers function and the basic division of heat exchangers are mentioned. Subsequently, an overview of frequently used heat exchangers working with liquid – gas media is presented. Design variants, types of ribbing used and operating conditions are discussed. Design variants, fin types used and operating conditions are discussed. In the second part, the design of the exchanger itself, which includes the choice of geometric dimensions and thermal and hydraulic calculation of the exchanger, is already processed. At the end of the thesis, the obtained results are evaluated. The work also includes the basic drawing documentation of the designed heat exchanger.
Heat exchanger design for heat pump
Tvrdý, Radek ; Toman, Filip (referee) ; Baláš, Marek (advisor)
This thesis deals with the design of a heat exchanger for a heat pump, specifically a condenser. In the introductory part, a brief research of heat pumps, refrigerants and their classification is made with a focus on the types of heat exchangers used. In the next part, the design of a shell and tube and plate condenser for a ground-to-water heat pump is made and then the two options for the heat exchanger are compared and an assessment is made as to which of the options is more suitable.
