Bachelor thesis "The Election of Gustáv Husák to the lead of Communist Party of Czechoslovakia - The Beginning of the Normalization in Media" deals with important facts and key changes in mass media, related to the period when Gustáv Husák was elected the leader of The Communist Party of Czechoslovakia in April 1969. The thesis reflects not only government's efforts to make media political and use it as a tool to enforce the communist ideology but also endeavour of journalists and artists to bear up against its power. To better understand the content, the bachelor thesis also contains chapters describing the theory and the influence of media production on society in general.

Summits between USA and USSR in 1988 in Czechoslovakian press

The bachelor thesis named "Summits between USA and USSR in 1985 and 1988 in Czechoslovakian Press" deals with the presentation of the summit meetings in Geneva and Moscow in contemporary Czechoslovakian newspapers and compares it with regard to the development of relations between the two superpowers and the change in the media environment of the Soviet bloc. In the theory section the thesis provides relevant historical context of the theme, such as information on censorship in Czechoslovakia or the policy of Glasnost, and characterizes both the monitored periodicals and the summit meetings between Ronald Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev, which took place in the second half of 1980's. The practical part covers detailed qualitative content analysis of the selected Czechoslovakian press, that is the Rudé právo, Zemědělské noviny and Svobodné slovo dailies. The presentation of the summit meetings is then summarized with regard to the employed journalist techniques, the topics covered in contemporary periodicals and the characteristics of the summit meetings in specialized literature. In the end the thesis compares the presentation of both summit meetings and searches for the cause of respective differences and the development of the media presentation of the events. Censorship, freedom of speech and freedom of access to information

Tématem rigorózní práce je cenzura a její sounáležitost se svobodou projevu a svobodným přístupem k informacím. Pojem cenzura je velmi frekventovaný, ale co je opravdu možné za cenzuru označit, jaké jsou její průvodní jevy a jaká je její historie už není tak moc známo. Cílem práce je nastínit stručné dějiny cenzury, jejího původu a organizace, její provázanost s bojem za svobodu slova a projevu a také její vliv na svobodný přístup k informacím. Cílem práce není hodnotit, snaží se přinést pohled na cenzuru jako specifický fenomén, který se ve společnosti vyskytuje téměř neustále a je pevně svázaný se základní lidskou svobodou, a to se svobodou projevu a právem na informace. Práce se snaží alespoň v informativním přehledu přinést přehled organizace cenzury v českých zemích od roku 1918 do současnosti, neboť žádná syntetická práce na toto téma nebyla doposud zpracována. Existují dílčí monografie a studie, které se cenzuře věnují buď v jednotlivém časovém období nebo v souvislosti s určitým tématem, popř. kloubí obě hlediska dohromady. Cenzura se také objevuje v publikacích a studiích, které se zabývají určitým historickým obdobím obecně a nebylo možné se v nich o cenzuře a jejímu dopadu na společnost nezmínit. Lze však konstatovat, že téma cenzury, její organizace a vlivu na běžný život není příliš rozpracováno.
