Sacharidy v potravinách a jejich význam ve výživě člověka

This bachelor thesis describes meaning of carbohydrates in a human nutrition in form of literary searches. It describes each representatives of carbohydrates and their food sources. A significant part is devoted to fiber and starches. Fiber is an essential component of food and it haves many positives. In the next part I have dedicated to metabolism of carbohydrates, their absorption and digestion. Further was clasified issues of glycemia, glycemic index and glycemix burden. It have been mentioned the risks of excessive con-sumption of carbohydtares, which are related close to civilization diseases. Last part of this bachelor thesis deals with alternative nutrition directions and possible sugar substi-tutes. Conclusion was devoted to sugar alternatives and their advatages or disadvantages. Danger of artificial sweeteners has not been proven yet.

Technologie výroby a jakost sušených plodů rodu Vaccinium

The diploma thesis deals with the topic of production technology and quality of dried fruits of the genus Vaccinium. The theoretical part of the work deals with the morpholo-gy, cultivation and chemical composition of the fruits of two species of blueberry (Vac-cinium spp.). Blueberries are a source of vitamin C, antioxidants, minerals and other biologically active substances. Furthermore, the work is focused on the technology of drying and lyophilization, as well as their possible advantages or disadvantages. The main part of the diploma thesis consists of a practical part, which describes the production processes of fresh forest blueberries and fresh Canadian blueberries by drying and lyophilization. Dried and lyophilized samples were subjected to the determination of these parameters - water activity, vitamin C, microbiological determination, colour measurement and senso-ry analysis. The results of the analysis were compared to fresh blueberries fruits. The results of fresh forest blueberries vs. fresh Canadian blueberries and dried vs. lyophilised blue-berries were compared.

Molecular mechanisms of sterile inflammation in damaged hematopoietic tissue

Hematopoietic tissue is home to hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs), which continuously generate all blood and immune cells. Tissue damage or cellular stress can lead to sterile inflammation. In response to the sterile inflammation, HSCs are activated to proliferate and switch to emergency hematopoiesis. Long-term exposure of hematopoietic tissue to inflammatory signals leads to increased differentiation at the expense of self-renewal of HSCs, DNA damage, and genetic instability, which can lead to cell death, permanent bone marrow damage and hematopoietic damage.

The main topics in the stories of the jungle by Horacio Quiroga

The aim of this diploma thesis is to point out the characteristic features and main themes in the Horacio Quiroga's stories of the jungle. The first part of the thesis is devoted to the general overview and theory of the short story with a focus on the Hispanic American short story, the key part is Quiroga's theoretical concept of the short story and the interpretation of key moments in his life. In the second part, the characteristic features of the short stories from the jungle are examined and the main topics are analyzed on the basis of the theoretical concept of the Ten Rules for the Perfect Storyteller and the author's autobiographical data. The three main topics analyzed are solitude, madness and death, which are presented to a large extent throughout Quiroga's work. The topics are subsequently interpreted in two selected short stories.

Analysis of Ginger root extract. I.

Bačová, B.: Analýza zázvorového extraktu. I. [Diplomová práce] Hradec Králové 2010, Univerzita Karlova v Praze, Farmaceutická fakulta. Komerční extrakt ze Zingiber officinale 8 : 1 byl analyzován na obsah gingerolu, vody a dalších látek. Byly použity chromatografické postupy včetně TLC a HPLC. Metodou hodnocení byly postupy uvedené v US Pharmacopeia 1996 a ČL 2009. Byla potvrzena přítomnost 6-gingerolu v množství 1,17%, obsah vody 89,18% a prokázané další látky podobné gingerolům.
