Public awareness of the issue of donating bone marrow

The primary aim of this diploma thesis was to draw attention to the issue of bone marrow donation. The thesis focuses on the level of public awareness and people's significant doubts regarding bone marrow donation, as these doubts and apprehensions might be the main reason restraining them from entering the bone marrow donor register. The theoretical part provides a comprehensive summary of findings in this area. Substantial part addresses particular types of the hematopoietic cells taking process and the following donor treatment. The empirical part of this diploma thesis constitutes of a quantitative research, in which hundereds of respondents have been reached through an electronic questionnaire. Within exactly 10 days, 576 of them filed for the survey, 496 of them were valid and processed. The outcome of the research reflects strong need for raising factual public awareness in the area of hematopoietic cells donation, especially in respect to current donation methods. 79,51 % of respondents had no knowledge of peripheral blood stem cell (PBSC) donation method. 50,26 % of them admitted fear of the bone marrow donation procedure itself. Patients' awareness of prevention of Venous Thromboembolism

Bachelor thesis 'Patients' awareness of Venous Thromboembolism prevention' focuses on one of the many major issues of general medicine, which may eventually take terminal course for the ill. As Venous Thromboembolism (further as TEN) is mostly a threat to patients after surgical intervention and the risk of its occurrence may be significantly mitigated through sound prevention, the aim of this bachelor thesis is to find out whether patients are duly acquainted with this disease and its prevention, enabling them to eliminate the associated risk. This thesis further investigates whether the patients are informed no later than before the surgery, who provides them with this information and it examines the level of overall nursing prevention. The research was performed on the basis of questionnaires filled in by patients of selected surgical departments in the Motol University Hospital.
Equal Opportunities for Men and Women on the Labour Market in the Region of Tábor

The bachelor work focuses on the issue of equal opportunities for men and women on the labour market. The theoretical part develops both the question of gender stereotypes and the legislative change of gender equality on the labour market. It also covers the schemes of creation of equal opportunities. One of the most important parts is the chapter dealing with discrimination when applying for a job and also with the question of equality during the work process. The practical part consists of the analysis and the interpretation of the data gained from questionnaires. The survey was realized in the region of Tábor and was supposed to find out if men and women have to face some kind of discrimination from employers and if men work on posts with a higher responsibility more often than women.
