Selected lexical units in legal texts and strategies of their translation (Spanish - Czech)

This thesis deals with the analysis of civil registry documents from five different Spanish-speaking countries. It contains theoretical chapters related to legal language, its vocabulary, and the strategy of translation of lexical units in legal texts. The theory is applied in the practical part of the thesis which approaches the macrostructure of the given documents and divides their legal terminology into thematic headings. As for terminology, appropriate solutions for translation into the Czech language are proposed based on legal definitions, types of equivalence with respect to Czech terms are determined, and these are furthermore compared in terms of their content. Two dictionaries and a terminology database have been used for this purpose. The thesis is written primarily in Czech and contains a Czech conclusion and furthermore a Spanish résumé.

Funding of tertiary education in the Czech Republic in comparison to the Swedish systém

This work analyses the current situation of tertiary education funding in the Czech Republic and tries to find grounds for a possible reform of the funding system on the basis of a document issued by the Czech Ministry of Education, Bílá Kniha (transl. White Paper) and economics theories of Barr, Friedman and Palacios, which in different ways have been applied in various countries of OECD. The Swedish funding system is described in more detail. Some results of the reseach into the attitude of the Czech students about the possibilities of cofinancing their tertiary education, which was conducted by the Academy for the Sciences of the Czech Republic in 2004 and 2008 are mentioned marginally. Simultaneously, the data from a special research made only for this work are used.

Verbal Periphrases Expressing the Termination of Verbal Action

The topic of the bachelor thesis is Verbal periphrases with the meaning of the end of the verbal process. The work contains the theoretical part where the author particularly underlines basic definitions of the verbal periphrasis including the criteria for their determination and their classifications from several Spanish linguists´ point of view. These linguists also classify verbal periphrases with the meaning of the end of the verbal process, which is the main topic of this work. The practical part aims for finding this type of verbal periphrases in various types of texts and analysing their translation by Czech translators with the use of Czech corpus InterCorp. This bachelor thesis includes Spanish résumé and it is written in Czech.

Foreign and Domestic Currency Loans in Central Europe: An Empirical Analysis

This thesis describes the history and present situation of dollarization process and analyzes the situation in three new EU member states. It describes the development of the official and unofficial dollarization of credits and deposits, and concludes the results of previous studies. Furthermore, it provides a detailed analysis of situation concerning borrowing denominated in foreign currencies in the Czech, Hungarian and Polish household sector, for the period of last eleven years. The empirical analysis investigates the determinants of foreign currency loans in a household sector. Using three different panel data regressions, we found that share of foreign currency denominated loans in examined countries are positively influenced by dollarization of deposits, banks' net foreign assets and loan to deposit ratio. Other tested variables, such as EU membership, interest rate differential or exchange rate volatility, changes their significance and impact according to the model or the method used. Their impact on a dependent variable is insignificant and not stable.
