The issue of human dignity and the value of human life of an intensive care patient.
BAUEROVÁ, Eliška
The aim of this thesis is to cover the issue of human dignity and the values of human life of a patient in the intensive care unit. The goal is achieved through a quantitative research, using the data collection technique through questionnaires. The purpose of the research was to determine what areas of human dignity do the patients find hard or problematic. A standardized questionnaire was used for this purpose. Based on theoretical knowledge, a questionnaire of its own design was compiled for the nurses' research group. It focused on the nurses' perception of a patient's dignity and also the value of his or her life during hospitalization in the intensive care unit. This information was quite difficult to determine, which is primarily due to the fact that it deals with topics and opinions which are philosophical, individual and perhaps even personal. The research found that the patients feel a problem only in certain areas that we had investigated in a standardized questionnaire. The patients' evaluation revealed that they do not feel most issues as too much of a problem. The nurses' research group found that the dignity of a patient and the value of his or her life mean something completely individual to each nurse. However, a large number of the nurses said that a patient's dignity is an important aspect, and the value of a patient's life in the intensive care unit is high or even priceless. This thesis could bring the nurses, who work in intensive care units, an incentive to think about the dignity of a patient, the high and untouchable value of his or her life and, last but not least, the individuality of each human being.
Caring for a patient with a disease of systemic connective tissue.
BAUEROVÁ, Eliška
The aim of this Bachelor Thesis is to find out what are the specifics of nursing care of a patient suffering from systemic connective tissue disease, and the specific needs of the patient. These goals were met by qualitative research. The data collection technique was semi-structured interviews with patients with systemic lupus erythematosus. This disease is one of the most prominent representatives of the group of systemic connective tissue diseases. The research part of the Bachelor Thesis has revealed how the disease started in patients, what the symptoms are now, what is the impact on the patient's psyche, the family approach to the illness, and also how the patients were hospitalized. These responses identified the specifics of nursing care of patients with systemic connective tissue disease. This specificity lies primarily in the focus of the nursing staff on the patient's pain, his or her tolerance to it and assessment. The research also reveals that the nurse should focus on assessing the patient's mobility and also on areas where the patient needs to be educated.Patients with this disease have a number of specific needs that the nurse should focus on.This is primarily the need to be painless. These patients also need enough sleep and rest. For the patients it is also important to avoid stressful situations, because stress often invokes and worsens symptoms of the illness. In addition, it has been found that the illness brings a number of constraints to patients' lives that patients need to learn to live with.It has also been found how much are the nurses informed about the disease according to the patients responses. In some departments, the nurses do know the issue of the disease, and in some other departments the nurses are not informed about it on sucha high level. This bachelor thesis could raise awareness of this disease among healthcare professionals and also improve the quality of care for patients with this disease.

Bauerová, Eliška ; Šíma, Ondřej (advisor) ; Hába, Stanislav (referee)
The main aim of the Bachelor's Thesis is to focus on developing countries and their complicated way to longlasting economic growth and stability. With an example of Africa it is trying to explain that badly used official development assistance together with barely any export diversity of a country can lead to a problem called the Dutch Disease. The first two parts of the thesis describe the theoretical concept as well as historical and current development of the continent. The third part brings recommendations for future development and includes specific macroeconomic data which provide more information related to hypotheses.
