Legal liability of a physician in graduate medicial training and its practical consequences
Štoková, Daniela ; Frinta, Ondřej (referee)
Legal liability of a physician in graduate medical training and its practical consequences Abstract From both legal as well as practical point of view, a physician in training (i.e. without specialist qualification for performing the medical profession of physician) finds himself in a unique position, differing from those of any other medical staff. Having completed a medical degree, a physician starts his journey towards obtaining an unrestricted license to practice medicine. However, up until a successful ending of his graduate training, he is required to practice medicine under direct or indirect supervision of an attending physician, with a sole exception of those procedures explicitly permitted to be done unsupervised. With regard to the above mentioned, the aim of this thesis is to deliver a complex picture analysing legal liability of a physician in graduate medical training. Further on, it aims to critically assess current legislation concerning this topic on the grounds of relevant case law as well as outcomes of a survey among physicians without specialist qualification for performing the medical profession of physician. First part of the thesis analyses mainly the legal framework a physician in training has to work in, i.e. Act. No. 95/2004 Coll. Following part of the thesis then covers the issue...

Regions in the EU after the Lisbon Treaty
Štoková, Daniela ; Rovná, Lenka (advisor) ; Kadeřábková, Jaroslava (referee)
There is a constant trend in the European Union for heightened pride, desire of extended autonomy and even national independence of regions. The master thesis intends to investigate the relations of selected regions in the EU member states with the European policy level. The general research question to answer is "Which regions are more successful in representing their interests vis-à-vis the European policy level?" The investigation is undertaken in a form of a comparative case study combining qualitative and quantitative research; the examined regions are - following the research hypotheses and intention to provide a multi-perspective analysis of the problem - Scotland (United Kingdom), Hessen (Germany), Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol (Italy) and Středočeský kraj (Czech Republic). Based on the comparative analysis the thesis concludes that "regions with wide scope of powers on the national level (usually coming from federal or regionalized member states) with strong economic background are generally more successful in representing their interests vis-à-vis the European policy level."
Regions in the European integration process
Štoková, Daniela ; Dubský, Zbyněk (advisor) ; Abrhám, Josef (referee)
Over time, the position of the regions within the European integration process was gaining on significance. The emancipation processes of the 1970s and 1980s set off by advancing decentralization on one hand, and a wave of new regionalism on the other later evolved into a debate about a "Europe of the regions". Although it is obvious that this concept does not have a broad support any more, the regional level was able to seize the opportunity and secure itself a better position in the integration process -- not only as an object and instrument of EU policies, but also as another actor in the decision-making process. The aim of the thesis was to analyze the position of the regions in the European integration process as well as to deal with the topic in a broader theoretical perspective (regionalism, multi-level governance, paradiplomacy). To fulfill this aim the thesis answered following research questions: "What incited the debate about the Europe of the regions and what were the imminent outcomes of the debate?" "Which structures can the regions use to access the European policy level and what influences their efficiency?" and "To what extent are these structures used by Czech regions? Methods used to answer these research questions included analysis of available sources and literature, historical analysis and a survey.
The Teschen region in Czech-Polish relations
Štoková, Daniela ; Veselý, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Krines, Vlastimil (referee)
In the main part of the thesis the conflict between Czechoslovakia and Poland over Teschen Silesia (1918-1945) is being analyzed and its impacts on the climate of Czech-Polish relations considered. Nevertheless, the whole issue is set into the frame of current events on the international political scene and is regarded not only as a regional matter but as one of the fundamental problems of international relations -- a conflict between two states over a border territory motivated by strategic and economic intentions. From the theoretical point of view, the conflict is applied on the methodology published in Waisová, Š.: Řešení konfliktů v mezinárodních vztazích.Further on the thesis deals with the current situation in the Teschen region with the emphasis on the position of the Polish national minority. That is supported by a survey focused on the quality of coexistence of various national groups in the region.
