The Study Management Standards for the Manufacturing Organization
Špatenková, Dita ; Ing. Zdeněk Šmarda, Ph.D (referee) ; Jurová, Marie (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with occupational safety standards in Foxconn company. The aim of this thesis is to evaluate current state of company management on the basis of existing standard and to compare both standards in order to make the new standard valid, better condition of occupational health and safety should be a result.
ICT in language education in Universities

Evolutionary processes underlying plant diversification in the tropical Andean highlands
Aparicio Vásquez, Diana Libeth ; Sklenář, Petr (advisor) ; Hughes, Colin (referee) ; Šmarda, Petr (referee)
The highlands in the northern Andes, which are known as the páramo, are recognized worldwide for their unique and species-rich flora. Many páramo plant groups underwent radiations, which have been shown to be very recent and outstandingly fast. These radiations have usually been linked to (1) the uplift of the northern Andes, which provided new ecological opportunities in the highlands that originated in this process, (2) Quaternary climate change that produced range shifts of the páramo, resulting in periods of páramo contraction and isolation, during cold periods, and periods of páramo expansion and connection, during warm periods (3) the Andean physiographical and ecological heterogeneity, which provides extent oppornuties for isolation and for ecological divergence. In spite of increasing research efforts to understand the evolution of the páramo flora, the actual processes underlying species diversification remain unclear. The main aim of this thesis is to contribute to the understanding of these processes. We use three different approaches in two different study systems: (1) A population genetics approach, which remains rare among páramo plant studies, focuses on three páramo Lupinus species (Lupinus alopecuroides, L. nubigenus, L. microphyllus). These species belong to one of the best...
Genome size studies in plants - from intraspecific variation to ecological consequences
Lučanová, Magdalena ; Trávníček, Pavel (advisor) ; Leitch, Ilia (referee) ; Šmarda, Petr (referee)
Nuclear DNA content (genome size) is one of the basic characteristics of living organisms. In the Angiosperms, the range of genome size is 2,300-fold, which raises questions about the causes and consequences of this tremendous variation. This thesis deals with genome size in plants from the level of intraspecific homoploid variation, through intraspecific ploidy variation, to interspecies comparisons. On various study systems we investigated the dynamics and ranges of genome size variation, tried to reveal possible associations between genome size and selected biological traits, and assessed the extent to which differences in genome size are manifested at the ecological and evolutionary level. As a means of estimating genome size we applied flow cytometry (FCM). In Taraxacum stenocephalum we conducted a detailed study of its enormous genome size variation. We carried out crossings of parents with various genome sizes and compared these parental genome sizes with those of F1 offspring. We also attempted to reveal the association of genome size with various growth traits. In Galium valdepilosum and Arabidopsis arenosa we carried out an extensive flow-cytometric ploidy level screening and compared the distribution and ecological preferences of detected cytotypes. We studied the Andean genus...
