Crown prince Rudolf and the Reform of the Habsburg Monarchy

The aim of this bachelor thesis is an analysis of Crown Prince Rudolf's opinions as reflected in his original texts, primarily in his newspaper articles, which were published anonymously. The author focuses on texts written about three main topics: Austrian nobility, Rudolf's attitude towards the many nations living within the Habsburg monarchy and the functionality of dualism or the possibility of a different form of government. The author has used the following methods to explore these topics: analysis of newspaper articles, other original texts and analysis of correspondence with fellow journalist Moritz Szeps as well as literature search. The thesis presents the situation in the Austro-Hungarian monarchy in the 1870s and 1880s and describes Rudolf's position on the issue of nationalism in a multi-ethnic monarchy, his views concerning the Balkan question, religious tolerance and the Jewish question. The Crown Princes' opinion on dualism and its disadvantages compared to a unified empire, his attitude towards the possibility of further splitting of the monarchy or its federalization, and his opinion on the possibility of the monarchy's dissolution are also presented. Domestic violence The present thesis deals with the phenomenon of domestic violence, from the substantive, procedural and criminological aspects. The first part defines the specifics of domestic violence, its signs and forms. It shows a typology of victims and perpetrators. It analyzes in detail the basic facts of the crimes that are the most commonly perpetrated forms of domestic violence. It also describes the sanctions and some of the treatment programs that are available for perpetrators of domestic violence. It maps the treatment of domestic violence in criminal procedural law and describes the reporting institution. The paper analyzes the status of the victim and also deals with the planned law to protect victims of crime. The conclusion summarizes the treatment of domestic violence abroad and briefly mentions the organizations providing assistance to victims of domestic violence and protection.

82/92 10. SUMMARY Řehořová, Barbora. DOMESTIC VIOLENCE - CRIMINAL ASPECTS The work presented here is attempting to outline the specific laws pertainingd to domestic violence. As mentioned previously, the aim of this work is to explore in detail the key laws and principles regarding domestic violence, and their legal definitions, distinguishing domestic violence from other violent acts suffered within the family. The key characteristics of domestic violence were outlined. It is appropriate to note here that domestic violence can be defined in such a broad spectrum of manifestations and these manifestations appear in many varied combinations. The second part of the work presented here attempts to specify the material and salient facts most commonly seen in domestic violence cases. Aggravating factors against the offender were also mentioned (aggrivated factors are the opposite of mitigating factors, if they can increase the severity of the crime and subsequently increase the length of any custodial sentence handed down by the presiding judge). Situations, where a victim of domestic violence themselves perpetrates a crime of domestic violence against another person, and thus herself becomes an offender, were also noted.
