Apothecaries in the Czech countries in the early modern period

The thesis deals with the history of apothecaries and pharmacists until 1170. Its primary focus is on the apothecaries who were working in Prague. The first part of this thesis treats of pharmacy development in Europe and continues with the general development of pharmacists and apothecaries in the Czech lands. It does provide a complex overview of pharmacists acting in Prague, whose records are being retained in archive sources. Except for proffesional degree of pharmacists the thesis also describes Medicinal rules, which they had to follow. The thesis also describes equipment and instruments that the pharmacists were using on daily basis. Further, the thesis focuses on the pharmacy atmosphere that used to have its mysterious specificity. In the conclusion, a short excursion to a Prague pharmacy is described.

Economic diplomacy of China in Africa

This diploma thesis analyzes the economic diplomacy of China in Africa. It focuses on searching for motives, players and instruments used for its implementation. The starting point is a theoretical description of economic diplomacy in general followed by a more specific description of foreign policy and economic diplomacy of China. The main part of the thesis is dedicated to the analysis of particular areas of economic diplomacy of China in Africa - mainly trade, investments and development aid - where it is possible to observe implementation in practice. The thesis further deeply analyzes the sector of natural resources where all the particular instruments and players meet. Marginally it includes an analysis of others specific parts as health diplomacy and soft power. The complex picture is drawn in the section of case study of Nigeria which is the typical example of the Chinese strategy of economic diplomacy. The concluding paragraphs of the thesis evaluate the overall implications of China's presence in Africa.
Comparison of economic development of Botswana and Democratic republic of Congo since decolonisation

The aim of the bachelor thesis, "Comparison of economic development of Botswana and the Democratic republic of Congo since decolonisation", is to map the development of both countries since the decolonisation. In the case of Botswana, the thesis analyzes successful steps that bring the country to relative prosperity and compare it with the results of the Democratic Republic of Congo. The thesis contains the charactersitc of both countries from economic and political viewpoint. The analysis of 5 factors: good governance, the resourse curse, mining diamonds in Botswana, armed conflict in the Democratic republic of Congo and the prevalence of HIV play important role in development. Review of the current situation concentrates on foreign trade and foreign direct investments. In conclusion, the thesis concerns potential challenges of the diversification of production adn exports, privatisation and the increase of the level of education.
