Methods of reducing aerodynamic drag of automobiles
Šimbera, Michal ; Vančura, Jan (referee) ; Čavoj, Ondřej (advisor)
Thesis deals with description of passive and active methods of reducing automotive aerodynamic drag. Firstly is given theory of aerodynamics and its testing methods. Further, split by vehicle parts, passive aerodynamic components used in mass production and on research vehicles are described. Lastly, some components of active aerodynamic are given.
Calculation of vehicle aerodynamic characteristics under yaw conditions
Fojtů, Kevin ; Čavoj, Ondřej (referee) ; Vančura, Jan (advisor)
The diploma thesis focuses on CFD simulation of a vehicle with various geometric modifications and non-zero angle flow. The goal of the work is to evaluate the effect of crosswinds for individual vehicle modifications together with the validation of these data sets with measured data from the wind tunnel. The last part of the thesis contains analysis of the flow field.
Post-war automotive aerodynamics
Šmerda, Ondřej ; Vančura, Jan (referee) ; Čavoj, Ondřej (advisor)
This Bachelor thesis deals with charting the development of the automotive aerodynamics in the post-war period. It focuses on principles that go along with car design. The development is demonstrated by aerodynamically significant and unusual cars including racing and record cars. Last but not least, the work compares those cars with today's cars and describes drawbacks of the cars of the given period from today's perspective.
Assistance Systems of Modern Vehicles
Piskoř, Martin ; Čavoj, Ondřej (referee) ; Hejtmánek, Petr (advisor)
This bachelor’s thesis deals with assistance systems of modern vehicles. The first part describes active and passive safety of modern vehicles. Differences of active and passive safety are mentioned in first part too. The second part attends to basic split of assistance systems. The third part presents description of some assistance systems, which are installed in modern vehicles. In conclusion, there is description of the most common sensors, which are used by assistance systems.
Wind tunnels for automobiles
Gross, Arnold ; Vančura, Jan (referee) ; Čavoj, Ondřej (advisor)
The bachelor thesis focuses on wind tunnels for automobiles. The first part of the bachelor thesis refers to the basic division of wind tunnels and to the main description of each section, which consists of. Then focuses to the monitoriest selected paramatres which are necessary for designing cars. The next part refers to the most efficient and the most important parts of the wind tunnels.el. The final part refers to examples of selected tunnels with specifyied basic parameters.
Wheel rotation in external aerodynamics computations
Páleš, Patrik ; Vančura, Jan (referee) ; Čavoj, Ondřej (advisor)
The aim of the master’s thesis is an investigation of volume mesh quality, turbulent models and models of rotation and their influence on aerodynamic coefficients of rotating wheels. Mesh independence study and near-wall prism layer modelling are also of high importance. Subsequently, the appropriate turbulent model is used for research of wheel rotation on drag and lift on a front and rear axle of the vehicle compared to the stationary case.
Device for measuring the centre of gravity height position of road vehicle
Kubica, Petr ; Čavoj, Ondřej (referee) ; Vančura, Jan (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals the with measurment of the centre of gravity height position of a road vehicle and its issues. The introduction of this thesis focuses on the determining of the position of the center of gravity and the moment of inertia of a road vehicle. The next part is about creationing of a construction plan and its verification. The thesis contains a sensitivity analysis of this device including its results. The end of the thesis informs about the executed measurment in a laboratory and about recommendations for next measurments.
Overcharginh of SI and CI Engines
Čavoj, Ondřej ; Beran, Martin (referee) ; Dundálek, Radim (advisor)
This Bachelor’s thesis is focused on overcharging and its influence on spark-ignition and diesel engines. It describes common overcharging methods, including their advantages and disadvantages. In analysing the most regular of them, it also mentions their design elements and possibilities of eliminating some of their weak points. It also contains short summary of this segment’s history, the view on possible future development and at the end even examples of overcharged engines.
Influence of wheel rim rotation on road vehicle aerodynamics
Hanych, Jaroslav ; Vančura, Jan (referee) ; Čavoj, Ondřej (advisor)
The bachelor’s thesis deals with the influence of wheel rotation on the aerodynamic characteristics of a vehicle. Different methods of modelling of wheel rotation are described. The thesis is focused especially on defining aerodynamic differences between static and rotating wheels and finally on the influence of different rim design on aerodynamics.
Design of a measuring steering wheel
Papp, Tomáš ; Čavoj, Ondřej (referee) ; Vančura, Jan (advisor)
This diploma thesis describes construction design of a measuring steering wheel. This mechanism replaces the original steering wheel in the tested vehicle. Connection is made via steering shaft through an adapter. Measured parameters are steering torque and angular position of steering while driving. Measurements obtained during test-ride show some of the dynamic aspects of the tested vehicle.
