Family care for the elderly at home in connection with social care benefits

This dissertation is focused on providing family-based care for the seniors at their home environment in connection with the care allowance. The goal of this work is to determine the influence of the care allowance sustainability of the care for the elderly at home environment from a perspective of the family caregivers. The theoretical part of the dissertation discusses the concept of self-sufficiency, interrelationship of the family care for a elderly family member at their home environment, state help for the family carers and a care allowance. In the practical part of this dissertation are presented and discussed the obtained results of the quantitative and qualitative survey, validated specify of the research assumptions and answered research questions related to the provision of the care allowance beneficiaries and understanding the impact of the care allowance on care sustainability for the caregivers of the eldery at their home environment.
Attitudes toward people with disabilities - comparison of selected professional groups

This diploma thesis mainly deals with the attitudes of professionals from helping professions towards people with disabilities. Nowadays is a great emphasis on the theme of inclusion of handicapped people and is important to go especially those people who interact with them most frequently with their attitudes and behaviour as example for society. The aim of the study is to compare responses of four selected professional areas - education, psychology, social work and health, and to determine differences in attitudes and opinions towards people with disabilities. The first part contains theoretical ground concepts related to attitudes, handicapped persons and survey conducted research on this topic. The second part is dedicated to the research conducted using a structured questionnaire. This research showed that some selected attitudes across helping professions are really different.
Possibilities of the social entrepreneurship in Podřipsko area

The introduction of the present diploma thesis, "Possibilities of social enterpreneurship in the Podřipsko region", is concerned with the theory of social economics and the forms it takes in the conditions of Europe and the Czech Republic. The second part of the thesis analyzes the opportunities of employment for the physically disabled and the possibilities of social enterprise in the Podřipsko region.
Elderly Suicide Rates in the Helping Professionals' Point of View - District Karlovy Vary

The author in her diploma theses deals with the problem of elderly suicide rates in the helping professionals' point of view in the district of Karlovy Vary. Her two key focus areas are personal experiences of the helping professionals with this particular topic and their knowledgeableness of it. Furthermore, the author validates whether the helping professionals are supported adequately enough to be able to deal with this phenomenon appropriately. In the theoretical part of the study the author presents basic introduction into the issue of suicide itself - briefly outlines the history of suicide rate and the most common motive, causes and forms of suicidal behavior. Moreover, she sketches the specifics of suicide rate among seniors and ways of working with this particular target group. Last but not least she drafts possible preventive techniques of suicide behavior among seniors. In the empirical part of the study the author explains the research methodology and briefly describes the district of Karlovy Vary. Teaching debt counseling in social-oriented tertiary education

(in English): The main aim of this bachelor thesis is to find out whether the subject of debt counselling is tought at tertiary educational institution social-oriented. The main reason for this sanctify work lies in big important of debt issues in current society. It is necessary to deal with this issue in the area of social activities in the form of debt counselling. This bachelor thesis consists of two parts. The theoretical part deals with debt issues, debt counselling and education and training in social activities. Further more this theoretical part is based on the recherche and studying of scientific and specializes literatury. The practical part is trying to find with the help of three methods whether colleges and higher secondary schools offer knowledge and skills of debt counselling and debt issues. This survey was execreted at selected social - oriented schools - higher secondary schools and bachelor program of colleges located in Prague. The result of practical part is the summary of all data gather during the survey process.
The motivation of applicants in nursing home

This MA thesis encompasses the motivation of the applicant to apply for a long-term stay at a retirement home. The theoretical part analyses the needs that seniors have, describes the system of care of the elderly and its problems, as well as the limits, motivation and psychosocial aspects of family care of the elderly, and the effect of a retirement home residence on the personality and quality of life of the elderly. The empirical part is formed as a quantitative research with the use of questionnaires. Respondents were selected out of the applicants for a long-term stay at a retirement home. The aim of the empirical part of the MA thesis is to answer the key question of the entire research: what life situation is responsible for the applicant's motivation for applying for a long-term stay at a retirement home. The empirical part describes the research objectives, research methods and research groups and poses the research questions. The received data are than analyzed, and the results are subjected to a critical scrutiny in a discussion. The results of this thesis serve as a basis for creating new projects to encourage seniors to remain at their home environment, and aimed at preventing the placement of the elderly in institutional facilities
Treatment Outcome Evaluation of Therapeutic Community for Drug Addicts

Evaluace výsledků léčby v terapeutické komunitě pro drogově závislé Martin Šefránek Abstrakt: Východiska: Výzkumem podložené závěry prokazující efektivitu léčby v terapeutických komunitách pro léčbu závislostí a umožňující mezinárodní srovnání jsou v ČR ojedinělé. "Evaluace výsledků léčby v terapeutické komunitě pro drogově závislé" je v ČR první prospektivní výzkumná studie hodnoticí efektivitu léčby uživatelů drog v terapeutických komunitách. Cil: Cílem studie je vyhodnotit, jak se změnilo užívání drog, kriminalita, osobní a sociální fungování a kvalita života uživatelů drog 1 rok po ukončení léčby. Metody: Data byly sbírány prostřednictvím strukturovaných interview s klienty terapeutických komunit. Studie porovnává změny v problémovém chování klientů ve 30 dnech před začátkem léčby a ve 30 dnech po 1 roce od jejího ukončení. Základním výzkumným nástrojem je the Maudsley Addiction Profile, který jsme doplnili o další měření. Soubor: Výzkumný soubor tvoří 176 uživatelů drog, kteří v letech 2007 a 2008 zahájili léčbu v rezidenční terapeutické komunitě. 1 rok po ukončení léčby byly data získány od 77.8% (N=137) klientů. The thesis on topic "The path of life of young adults after leaving children's home" deals with problems encountered by young people, who spent at least a part of their childhood in some form of institutional, as they now stand at the door-steps of their new, less structured life. The theoretical part of this thesis is oriented toward a description of the system of institutional upbringing, followed by detailing the various psychosocial needs of young people. Attention is also given to negative circumstances effecting the incorporation of such "institutional" children into a general population. The Practical part is concerned with monitoring and description of the new life beginnings undertaken by these young individuals from children's homes. With the help of semi-structured interviews, finding out the experiences and feelings of people, who were growing up in children's homes and their transition to the real world. This whole thesis is pointing out problems of people who are growing up outside of their nuclear family. Emphasis is put on their suitable incorporation into society.
Family factors of sibling incest development

(in English): This thesis focuses on the issue of sibling incest with special emphasis on the influence of family environment on its development. The theoretical part first discusses the topic of sexual abuse in general, since it is a main area covering the issue of sibling incest. This includes a definition, history, the key characteristics, and a description of the perpetrator and victim. In a similar vein, the theoretical part then covers the topic of incest as a sexual abuse within family, sharing many common characteristics with sibling incest. Finally, the theoretical part gives an overview of sibling incest, including a comparison with father-daughter incest, possible after-effects, a description of the perpetrator and victim, and a discussion of the family system. The empirical part provides a discussion of the individual family factors that contribute to the sibling incest development. This discussion is based on an analysis of foreign literature, as well as interviews conducted with Czech experts. Given the analysis of both sources, one can conclude that, overall, family factors contribute to the sibling incest development. However, they are not the only elements involved with this phenomenon.
Formal and informal family supports to adults with schizophrenic disorders

Bachelor thesis deals with mental illness called schizophrenia, family responses to the mental illness of their family members, coping with these situations, ways of formal and informal support in a family in which a person with schizophrenic illness live and finally the end of the process of deinstitucionalization. The first chapter describes the mental disorder called schizophrenia, its symptoms, process, form, possible heredity and treatment. The following is a view of illness as a lack of income and the government allowances for sickness and disability. The end of the first chapter takes into the system of social services in the UK, Denmark and Germany. The second chapter deals with a family and their reaction to the disease. It gives insight into the relationship, living situation in the social environment and the risks that may arise in the family due to the illness of their member. It shows what the stress means to the family, describes which situation can be stressful. The chapter also addresses to how manageable this issue is, intervention of a social worker, introduction of resilience and community care.
