Study of variants of sewerage in the village Vír
Macík, Ondřej ; Macsek, Tomáš (referee) ; Hluštík, Petr (advisor)
Most of the municipalities in Czech republic have old or even disfunctional sewage systems for built up communal areas. General combined sewage systems built earlier are being today replaced by solutions separating rain waters and sewage waters. Municipality Vír has currently only few sewage branches that consequently flow into Svratka river. Aim of this Diploma Thesis is to propose 3 solutions for sewage produced in communal areas of Vír municipality and its consequent disposal in sewage treatment plant. Each of three solutions feature combined gravity-driven and pressure systems of sewage lines as well as water treatment in proposed MTB as well as household and container WTP. Each of three variant is economically weighed with proposed budget.
Magnetic resonance volumetric techniques in monitoring disease activity in patients with multiple sclerosis
Andělová, Michaela ; Horáková, Dana (advisor) ; Vymazal, Josef (referee) ; Hluštík, Petr (referee)
Clinical course of multiple sclerosis (MS) is heterogenous and white matter lesion count and volume on brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) correlate with clinical course only partially. Therefore, there is an urgent need for more reliable prognostic biomarkers. This work explored three imaging markers - spinal cord (SC) imaging (specifically SC volume measurement and assessment of focal and diffuse SC changes), atlas-based model of "disconnectome" (i.e. disruption of brain connectivity due to white matter lesions) and periventricular white matter gradient assessed with T1 relaxometry. For the SC projects, we assessed MRI from 2044 MS patients with a semi-automatic method for SC volume measurement. We confirmed (i) a relationship between diffuse SC changes, SC volume and disability; (ii) a novel finding was that in patients with EDSS ≤ 4.0, diffuse changes contributed to higher disability more than SC volume; (iii) SC volume explains the paradox in patients with dissociation between brain white matter lesion load and disability; (iv) SC focal and/or diffuse changes are present in 75% patients with early MS, of which 43% have diffuse changes that are related to brainstem lesions. In the disconnectome project, we evaluated the disruption of connectivity caused by white mater lesions in 745 patients...
Facilitation physiotherapy in the tertiary prevention of multiple sclerosis (focusing on neuroplasticity)
Procházková, Marie ; Řasová, Kamila (advisor) ; Hluštík, Petr (referee) ; Krhut, Jan (referee)
Background: Regular physical activity and physiotherapy positively influence the health and physical condition of people with multiple sclerosis (MS). These activities support neuroplasticity of the brain, which can lead to a slowing down of clinical progression. However, the mechanism of this recovery is still not well documented. Nevertheless, imaging methods are currently widely used to help to create a better understanding of the pathophysiological and consequent reparative processes in MS. Aims: This study aims to demonstrate changes in clinical functions, functional activity and brain connectivity (by functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging - fMRI) in MS patients after two months of physiotherapy. It seeks to clarify the preventive importance of regular physiotherapy, and also to provide further insights into the pathophysiological and neuroplastic processes in MS patients. Methods: This is a prospective randomized experimental study with longitudinal observation. People with MS (N = 38) were divided into two groups and underwent a two- month ambulatory physiotherapy program (1 hour, twice a week of neuroproprioceptive "facilitation, inhibiton" therapy). A clinical examination and fMRI examination were carried out one month before, just before, just after and a month after the end of the...
Diffusion Weighted Imaging and Other Quantitative MRI Methods in the Diagnostics of Selected CNS Diseases
Keller, Jiří ; Kalvach, Pavel (advisor) ; Hluštík, Petr (referee) ; Hájek, Milan (referee)
The aim of this study was to assess the scope of exploitation of the diffusion weighted imaging and other quantitative MR methods in the clinical diagnostics. We calculated the normal values of fractional an- isotropy (FA) in our group of healthy volunteers and proved FA depen- dence on age in some regions of brain using regression analysis. The relationship was quadratic in the splenium of callosal body, the left pre- central gyrus and in the pyramidal tract at the level of mesencephalon on the right. Linear decrease of FA with age was found in the rostrum of callosal body, in the white matter of frontal lobes, in the anterior limb of internal capsule on both sides and in the pyramidal tract at the level of mesencephalon on the left. In all measured parts of basal ganglia FA in- creased. Based on our data set, we propose a non-linear colour look-up table (LUT) to enhance the pathologic values. The use of this LUT is presented in patients with several neurological disorders. Quantitative methods were used also for assessment of the group of patients suffering from ALS. The changes we expected in the posterior limb of internal capsule were not significant, therefore we suppose that the presence of T2 hyperintensity in this region is not a reliable marker of the disease. T2 relaxometry detected the...
Alternative wastewater disposal systems
Žagan, Marek ; Balasová, Kateřina (referee) ; Hluštík, Petr (advisor)
The aim of the bachelor thesis is to identify alternative options for wastewater disposal in a decentralized system. The introductory part of the work presents wastewater, its composition, pollution indicators and subsequent distribution. The main part introduces alternative, classic and special types of toilets, the method of their transport, wastewater disposal and particularly their main advantages and disadvantages in frequent use. The conclusion of the theoretical part deals with the parameters of wastewater and proposed general parameters of alternative and conventional toilet systems. The second part of the bachelor's thesis applies and suggests one of the alternative toilet systems in the form of a composting toilet for a selected recreational facility in Bělá, part of the village of Mírová pod Kozákovem.
Assessment of the technical condition of the sewer network in the village
Shamko, Viktoryia ; Úterský, Michal (referee) ; Hluštík, Petr (advisor)
The bachelor's thesis deals with the assessment of the construction and technical condition of the sewer network in a selected village. The research part is focused on maintenance, types and frequency of failures and inspection techniques to control the condition of the sewer network and propose reconstruction. The works include czech and foreign methodologies for evaluating the condition of the sewer network. In the practical part, a camera inspection of selected sections of the sewer network was performed, followed by a defect coding and evaluation according to two methodologies. Conforming to the assessment of the condition of individual sewer sections and manholes, rehabilitation was proposed.
Structural and technical condition of the sewer system in the village
Hublová, Nikola ; Macsek, Tomáš (referee) ; Hluštík, Petr (advisor)
The bachelor's thesis is focused on the evaluation of structural and technical condition of the sewer network in a selected municipality. The thesis is divided into two parts. The first part lists the legislation related to the sewer network. Faults occurring on the sewer network are described together with selected factors influencing the condition of the sewer pipe. For fault detection were introduced pipeline monitoring methods with a description of codes intended for the evaluation of qdetected faults in accordance with ČSN EN 13508-2. The second part presents the municipality in which the network passport took place. According to the available documentation, all elements of the sewer network were traced and then geodetically oriented. All shafts were visually inspected and obtained informations were recorded in the register of elements. Selected sections of the pipeline were inspected by a robot with camera and all faults were classified according to the coding system from the standard ČSN EN 13508-2. The overall structural and technical condition of the sewer network was summarized and variants were presented representing the possibilities of how to deal with the information obtained.
