A special focus is on the effect on rheological properties of the ceramic mass and a minor focus is on physical and mechanical properties of burned ceramic body.
Forsteite and the Possibilities of its Synthesis
Nguyen, Martin ; Keršnerová, Lucie (referee) ; Sokolář, Radomír (advisor)
The aim of this Bachelor thesis is to characterize the most important properties of forsterite and its practical use. Theoretical part contains characteristics of individual raw materials, which are used for synthesis of forsterite and the assessment of raw material possibilities of Czech Republic for the production of forsterite. The main focus is placed on the detailed research of published results of the most used technologies for synthesis of forsterite. At the end of theoretical part is the design of the most suitable production technology for forsterite in the Czech Republic. The practical part verifies suggested design of the production technology for forsterite synthesis together with a comparison of basic parameters of laboratory prepared forsterite with published parameters. X-ray diffraction analysis will be used for the evaluation of purity of the synthesized forsterite.
The Possibilities of Accelerating of Ageing process of Brickmaking raw materials mixtures
Lukášková, Monika ; Stančík,, Hynek (referee) ; Sokolář, Radomír (advisor)
Aim of this thesis lies mainly in the verification of how to speed up the time of maturing of brick ceramic mixtures by adding hot water. The theoretical part describes the history of ceramics, brick, ceramic products, manufacture of ceramic brick shards and the time required maturing and its influence on the final properties of ceramic products. In the practical part will be used one type of brick earth and then it will mix a plastic dough, which will be from the current production of mixtures distinguished higher temperature mixing water. Next step is to describe the procedures for tests on individual samples. The outcome of this work should be to evaluate which water temperature is best for shortening the time of maturing brick ceramic mixtures, and what effect this acceleration have on resting of the plastic dough and what is the final characteristics of this sample.
The Effect of Sawdust on the Refractoriness of Insulation Chamotte
Smékalová, Veronika ; Kotásek, Martin (referee) ; Sokolář, Radomír (advisor)
Lightweight refractory products have their place between refractory materials. Still the most common way of lightweighting is by using burnable components. This bachelor work includes the theoretical part, which deals with raw materials for lightweight fireclay, manufactory, and also testing lightweight refractory products. The second part of this work deals with foreign research and its results in this area. The practical part examines the influence of the types of sawdust (spruce or beech) on properties of lightweight refractory materials. The work focuses mainly on heat resistance, temperature usability, thermal conductivity, and density. These properties are evaluated with consideration to the ash which is created by burning sawdust.
Determination of frost resistance of brick bodies
Keršner, Štěpán ; Skotal, Zbyněk (referee) ; Sokolář, Radomír (advisor)
This thesis focuses on the summarization and description of contemporary frost resistance of brick bodies testing methods and methodology of assessing objectively the destruction of brick bodies during freeze-thaw cycles, using ultrasound.
Sintering ability of feldspars and their alternatives
Votava, Petr ; Štubňa,, Igor (referee) ; Sokolář, Radomír (advisor)
The main goal of this Bachelor’s thesis is to compare sintering ability of feldspars which are the most used flux in ceramics with their alternatives such as quarry dust and bone ash. Theoretic part describes process of sintering, sintering activities of used fluxes and their use in the manufacture of ceramics. Practical part is dedicated to description and evaluation of experiment in witch sintering activities of various fluxes ceramic product are compared in dependence on their percent proportion in raw material mix.
Incombustible ligtweighting agents for brick body
Suk, Vojtěch ; Stančík,, Hynek (referee) ; Sokolář, Radomír (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with the possibility of reducing the density of the brick body using the chemical additive Vuppor for different types of soil, which are used for the production of thermal insulating products such as type THERM. Describes the availability of suitable additives (starch, carboxymethylcelullose, acrylic dispersion) that are capable of combining with the additive Vuppor to improve the observation properties.
Plasters modified by burnt clays
Soukupová, Eva ; Příhoda,, Jiří (referee) ; Sokolář, Radomír (referee) ; Michoinová,, Dagmar (referee) ; Rovnaníková, Pavla (advisor)
The doctoral thesis deals with the reactivity of burnt clays in connection with modified lime mortars. The theoretical part of the doctoral thesis provides an overview of the properties of lime mortars, their quality and ways of their degradation. The different types of burnt clays (brick powder, bentonites and burnt clay shale), their origin, properties and factors affecting their reactivity and methods of its evaluation are stated. The properties and reactivity of burnt clays are evaluated on the basis of determination of pozzolanic activity, mineralogical and chemical composition, surface area, density, content of the amorphous phase and granulometry in the experimental part of the doctoral thesis. The compositions of lime mortars containing burnt clays and evaluation of an impact of burnt clay on the properties of mortars in the fresh and hardened state are given. Consistency, bulk density, workability and air content of mortars in the fresh state are evaluated. Strength characteristics depending on the time, water absorbability, porosity, capillary attraction, adhesion, coefficient of diffusion resistance, frost resistance, shrinkage, mineralogical composition and microstructure of mortars in the hardened state are evaluated. Attention is also paid to the influence of the cellulose ether addition into the modified lime mortars.
Determination of Vuppor admixture for the refractory light weighting bodies
Svobodová, Markéta ; Keršner, Štěpán (referee) ; Sokolář, Radomír (advisor)
Lightweight refractory products are materials used for the construction of certain parts of industrial furnaces, especially for iron, but also in other sectors where is operated with high temperatures. There are special requests on refractories. The theoretical part contains an overview of used raw materials, production and properties of lightweight refractory products and description of not burnable lightener - chemical additives VUPPOR I and information about previously conducted trials dealing with these topics. The practical part is divided into four parts, which are evaluated by tests which were performed on a refractory clay with chemical additive Vuppor I (samples are lightened and not lightened) - it was primarily a test of sensitivity to drying, density, compressive strength, thermal insulating properties, etc.
Possibities to increase the frost resistance of brick body
Keršner, Štěpán ; Šveda,, Mikuláš (referee) ; Sokolář, Radomír (advisor)
This thesis, which comprises of a theoretical and a practical part, deals with possible means of increasing ceramic body frost resistance. The current state of research in the field of ceramic body frost resistance is summarized in the theoretical part. The practical part is divided into two sections. In the first section, the influence of firing temperature (820 °C and 1020 °C) and duration (2, 4 and 6 hours) on frost resistance and several other parameters is assessed by means of experiment, using a specimen of brick body made of mixes currently used in roof tile production by TONDACH Šlapanice and TONDACH Dolní Jirčany factories. In the second section of the practical part, two modifications are introduced of the mixture currently used in roof tile production in the TONDACH Šlapanice factory – GE clay and zeolite supplements were added, the effects of which are verified by means of experiment using specimens fired in a kiln designated for ceramic masonry blocks and alternatively in a kiln used for firing TONDACH Šlapanice roof tiles.
