Illéš, Juraj ; Deferová, Michaela (referee) ; Zemánková, Helena (advisor)
This master’s thesis deals with the conversion of the area of the former textile factory Larisch and Sons in Krnov. The urban design of the area introduces a reinterpretation of the mill race corridor, and creates attractive public spaces connected with the castle area and the historic city center. New functions are proposed in today’s unused historic buildings. The buildings of the former spinning mill and warehouse are converted into administrative and residential premises. The buildings of the former sample room and the production hall house the museum of the textile industry. The architectural solution seeks to preserve the original historical values of the existing buildings and, through the proposed additions, to bring a modern architectural expression to the area that respects the industrial character of the place.

Kratochvílová, Šárka ; Macek, Karel (referee) ; Zemánková, Helena (advisor)
Diploma project develops the intention to build up an ecological project based on renewable resources utilization of energy and materials recycling in Zábřeh. The study is engaged in possible area extension and tries to divide it into functional zones, when zone of main production remains the same (already elaborated project) and the zone of extension where there is settled production storages, alt.production hall extension. Third zone, so-called green zone, is developed in more detail. The green zone is a belt of plot separating the production area from second-class road nr.315, and also creates entrance gateway and lungz of the whole area. The green belt is conceived as a sojourn park with water elements(biotopes, lake, water basin), which is intersected by wooden footbridge, that connects object of multifunction pavilion and office building and ends at articifial island, or more precisely as a torso in the lake waters, symbolizing the science, which´s end is far away for human beings. The footbridge is also an axis between planned science-technological centres for the direct processing of waste materials. Administration building and pavilion are conceived as a „second nature“, purely human artifact, whih is also clearly expressed in „non-natural“ materials used. Their concept tries to saturate client´s requests and use the renewable resources of energy with observance of building biology principles (author´s request) at the same time.

Dvořáčková, Kateřina ; Zemánek, Václav (referee) ; Zemánková, Helena (advisor)
The subject of my diploma project is reconversion of a gasholder placed in Ostrava Vitkovice. The gasholder is noted as national culture heritage and is strongly contaminated. The concept is following the functional structure of the objects around and counts with their new use. The gasholder is placed in the middle of the area and lays on the crossing of conjuction of the main dominant s of the area. These cojuctions create streets which meet in the middle of the gasholder and create the square. The gasholder has now two faces, the old one faces the area is monofunctional and the other, new one faced to the inside is polyfunctional. The square is covered by the existing roof construction and creates safe place full of nice views and visual conjunctions of the main dominants.

The Designs for Transformation of Bata's Architecture in Letná District, Zlín
Ovčiariková, Kvetoslava ; Bergmann, Ivan (referee) ; Zemánková, Helena (advisor)
The diploma project is focused on screening the possibilities of increasing the inner area of the residences within the former workers-housing area Letná in Zlín. The targets of the project are: - To create an attractive residential district, composed of contemporarily re-designed working class spaces, - To support the district as a unit, which can be able to react on the actual demographical requests and conditions, and - To support the district, which should be able to compete with the new rising accommodation districts through its prevalent qualities. The result is a design consisting of 3 main variations of the default house extension. The added cubic elements present a solution for the problems most commonly seen in the district in its actual state; the house extension creates a transition between the private inner space of the house and the outer public space. The proposal allows maximal living space while minimizing construction size extension.

Conversion of the former textile factory in Brněnec
Handl, Dominik ; Mosler, Štěpán (referee) ; Zemánková, Helena (advisor)
This diploma thesis focuses on conversion of run-down industrial compound in the village of Brněnec. Among the buildings in the compound, the most significant is Schindler's factory, which is famous for sheltering and saving hundreds of Jews during the holocaust. This remarkable and intriguing history makes it possible for the compound to be used in countless ways, that would bring this place back to life. It is nevertheless important to place the new structures into the original structure with care, as to preserve the genius loci. That's why the new buildings appear gradually more and more the further away we get from the Schindler's factory. They remain hidden behind the peripheral wall of the newly designed building, which is part of the industrial compound and preserves the distinct shape of the saw roof of the original building. The main goal of this thesis is the design of new holocaust museum, which follows up on the history while taking in consideration its surroundings.
