Performance of Continuous Micro Photo Reactor – Comparison with Batch Process
Drhová, Magdalena ; Hejda, S. ; Křišťál, Jiří ; Klusoň, Petr
Utilization of the flow chemistry as well as microreactors belongs to the latest trends in chemical engineering. Continuous microreactors of various kinds can be found in the literature, for example the micromixers, micro packed beds, or micro photo reactors. In order to evaluate the benefits of microtechnology application for the given process, the performance of a particular microreactor needs to be compared with the conventional setup. This contribution presents the performance of a continuous micro photo reactor in comparison with a batch process. Two model reactions were selected: the catalyzed photooxidation of 4-chlorophenol (4-CP) and the singlet oxygen chemical quencher 9,10-dimethylanthracene (DMA) in dimethylformamide. The tests were carried out using advanced opto-chemical apparatus with a well-defined light filter corresponding to the absorption bands of the used photo catalysts.

Electrospun Catalytic Support Prepared by Electrospinning Technique
Soukup, Karel ; Topka, Pavel ; Petráš, D. ; Klusoň, Petr ; Šolcová, Olga
Our work has been focused on preparation of an electrospun catalytic support based on poly(2,6-dimethyl-1,4-phenylene oxide). A set of nanofibrous catalysts were prepared by the wet impregnation technique with the solution of platinum(II) acetylacetonate and subsequent activated by calcination in air.

Critical Notes on Heterogeneous Photocatalysis on TiO2 Photocatalysts
Klusoň, Petr ; Hejda, S.
In our recent works we described different types of titania based materials used as either colloids or thin films. These were functionally characterized in photo-induced electrochemical measurements and/or in photocatalytic oxidations. Special attention was paid to the effect of organized internal structure induced by templating principles as an alternative to plasma enhanced physical methods. Considerable work has also been undertaken on research of porphyrine based photoactive macromolecules, which are efficient producers of singlet oxygen species upon well defined illumination.

Theoretical Interpretation of Enantioselectivity Trends in (R)-Ru-BINAP Catalyzed Hydrogenation of Methylacetoacetate in the QAS Ionic Liquid Phase
Dytrych, Pavel ; Klusoň, Petr ; Floriš, Tomáš ; Lísal, Martin ; Slater, M.
An essential part of this work was focused on the role of the alkyl chain length in NR 222Tf2N and its reflection in the evaluated kinetic parameters. For this screening NR 222Tf2N was mixed with methanol using the one-to-one weight ratio.

Thin Functional Films of TiO2 Nanoparticles
Morozová, Magdalena ; Klusoň, Petr ; Hejda, S. ; Kment, Štěpán ; Šolcová, Olga
Magnetron Sputtering and the Modulated Hollow Cathode Plasma Jet Sputtering. As chemical method the sol-gel process carried out in the templating environment as dip-coating and piezo-jet printing was employed. The produced films differed in many structural characteristics and also in their photoelectrochemical behaviour, as the primary sought function. The produced layers were described by means of atomic force microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, ellipsometry and profilometry. Then the films were used as electrodes in photoelectrochemical experiments.
