Reflexive style of volunteering at organization focused on integration of foreigners

This diploma thesis deals with the study of the world of reflexive volunteers and their retention in a selected non-profit organization. The theoretical part provides an overview of the motivations for volunteering and the current functioning of volunteering in the Czech Republic and the European Union; it also focuses on transforming the way volunteers are involved from the perspective of modernization and describes in detail the process of volunteer management. The empirical part consists of interviews with ten volunteers in a selected organization in order to understand its motivations, length and intensity of work, relationships with other volunteers and employees. Finally, practical recommendations for the volunteer coordinator are presented regarding selected aspects of volunteer management, with special emphasis on the retention of volunteers. Productive ageing or volunteering of seniors in the Czech Republic

The main topics of this master's thesis are active ageing and volunteering of seniors in the Czech Republic. The text considers volunteering of seniors as a form of active ageing. The aim of this thesis is to look closely at volunteering of seniors, how they become volunteers, and find out how volunteering affects their quality of life. Using the method of qualitative research and biographical interview, as a form of data collection, 7 respondents were examined. The result of the research has shown that volunteering has a positive effect on the quality of life of seniors. Improving the quality of life is reflected in the fact that seniors take fewer medicines and they are in a better mental condition. Because of new relationships and experiences, they feel more socially included and happy. Moreover, it is shown that seniors likely to choose work with children as a volunteer activity. In addition, the research has shown that theory of continuity and theory of compensation are approximately equally represented as a theory of the beginning of volunteering. Role of trade unions as representatives of working citizens in Czech Republic and Germany

My thesis studies the role of trade unions as representatives of workers in Czech Republic and Germany. The aim of this thesis is presentation of representation of collective and individual interests of workers on various levels - from national to corporate level. My thesis presents position of trade unions towards state and employers too. In the last chapter the thesis deals with social issues and challenges, that trade unions deal with as well. In conclusion the thesis offers a comparison of the role of trade unions at mentioned levels of representation in Czech Republic and Germany.

PhDr. Jan Sokol, CSc., Ph.D. 2020 ANNOTATION The increase in private wealth in our cultural circuits has been unprecedented which fosters growth in private philanthropy. Charitable giving has been on a rise throughout the western world, including the Czech Republic, where we can document long-term and steady growth in both the number of charitable gifts as well as in the amount donated. In parallel, on the beneficiary side, there is a stabilized sector of well-established civic organizations covering the standard array of charitable topics. We may state that following 1989, the Czech civic sector has been revived, showing - despite all challenges - most signs of healthy maturing. In this paper, we attempted to capture the cultural and social context of philanthropy from the point of view of practical philosophy. We examined the rich roots of philanthropy and described the processes of its institutionalization until now. We paid special attention to describing the current situation of philanthropic giving in the Czech Republic. Recreation, sport and life in the mountains - Case study of Bedřichov village in Jizera Mountains

The thesis focuses on the issue of the impact of sport, recreation and weekend housing on the shape and development of the village, which is directly related to these activities and is located in a protected landscape area. My subject of interest is the specific village of Bedřichov in the Jizera Mountains. This area has been struggling in recent years with the influxt of athletes and those interested in weekend living, who mainly run cross-country skiing. Bedřichov has to adapt to this onslaught and find solutions to be a pleasant place not only for athletes and tourists, but also a pleasant place for everyday life. This thesis takes the form of a case study and the main aim is not only to present the problem in a comprehensive way but also to show how the interests of sport and everyday life in the village are balanced. The first input is the assumption that this municipality is able to balance these interests. Analysis of research data shows that these efforts have been relatively successful so far, but balancing these interests is becoming increasingly difficult. Reflection of a new form of short-term volunteering "voluntourism" from the perspective of Czech participating volunteers and expert criticism

The diploma thesis deals with short-term volunteering called volunteer tourism (VT) or also known as "voluntourism". This type of volunteering has gained its popularity but has also been criticized by experts on volunteering. The aim of this work is to introduce the issue of VT to examine critical views from the side of experts to analyze the perception of VT by Czech volunteers who have completed the VT project and compare these reflections with expert criticism. The theoretical part is focused on the introduction of VT and analysis of scientific texts, dealing with criticism of VT. The empirical part is focused on the statements of volunteers themselves and their subsequent comparison with professional criticism. In conclusion of the diploma thesis there is a summary of research results and discussion of the differences in the reflection of two levels of participants. Volunteering as the Way to Start a Career

The influence of volunteering on the career of young people in the Czech environment represents an unexplored area of research. This diploma thesis is searching for the answer if volunteering experience and competencies acquired during volunteer activities can affect the start of a career of young people. Particular attention is also paid to social capital and to persons whose activities in the organization push volunteers forward in a professional sense and share new contacts useful for career. The theoretical basis includes the theory of social capital, signal theory, career path theory, and career anchor theory. Design work is qualitative research. The source of the data are semi- structured interviews with ten participants who have experience in volunteering and currently can provide their own opinion on the impact of volunteering on their careers. Volunteering of Religious Association's Members as a Form of Civic Involvement

The aim of this master thesis is to clarify how volunteers civically engage in religious association. The theoretical part explains volunteering as a form of civil engagement in civil society. It also shows connection between religion and volunteering and it presents basic Christian values. The qualitative empiric part answers investigative questions which are focused on how volunteers engage inside of their association as well as outside of it, how they perceive their own volunteer activity and which values in volunteering they consider as important. All the obtained information given through interviews, participant observation and annual reports is finally summarized to the conclusion. How Youth Perceive their Volunteer Work for Senior Citizens Organizations

This diploma thesis deals with youth volunteering in organizations for the elderly. The theoretical part defines volunteering as well as describes its main incentives and predictors. Further, it elaborates on youth volunteering in the context of public policy. The last issue discussed is the intergenerational aspect, intergenerational gap, ageism, intergenerational learning and intergenerational volunteering and programs. The methodological part analyses how is this activity perceived by your volunteers and how they end up being involved in volunteering while using qualitative research methods. Lastly, it investigates what this activity brings into their life and their relationship towards the elderly.
Foundation Investment Fund and its beneficiaries from foundations - past and the present view

This master thesis focuses on the Foundation Investment Fund as a whole - mapping the developmental stages of competitions, points to the obligations provided for by the foundation contribution, points out the activities of the beneficiaries from the Foundation investment fund, describes the historical development of the foundations in the Czech lands which were impact of war events marked by lack of funds. In addition, there is also a concept of ,,foundation ". This master thesis also points to the institutions that were in relation to the Foundation Investment Fund key. The theoretical part is based on neoinstitutional theory, which is based on the synergistic relationship of civil, public and private sector. The research is based on analysis of the annual reports of the selected file foundations and provides a comprehensive overview of their operations.
