Alternation of bile production due to iron depletion.
Šimková, Marie ; Prašnická, Alena (advisor) ; Hyršová, Lucie (referee)
Charles University Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové Department of Biological and Medical Sciences Student: Marie Šimková Supervisor: Mgr. Alena Prašnická Title of diploma thesis: Alternation of bile production due to iron depletion Introduction: Liver has an irreplaceable role in the production and secretion of bile. This body fluid serves as the main excretion way of some endogenous and exogenous substances. Another liver property is the ability to store substances essential for correct functions of the body, e.g. iron. It has been shown that iron could have an impact on the bile production and secretion. Aim: The aim of this diploma thesis was to discover an impact of iron depletion on the bile synthesis and metabolism, especially on bile acids, and the way it affects transporters expression. Methods: Male Wistar rats (n=6 in each group, 250 ± 20 g) were divided into two groups: control group (Chow diet) fed with standard diet and iron depletion group (ID), fed with iron depletion diet for 21 days. To investigate the changes in bile flow, the bile had been collected for 120 min during in vivo clearance study. The analysis of the changes in expression of bile transporters and enzymes responsible for de novo bile acid synthesis was performed at the mRNA (qRT-PCR) and protein (Western blot)...
How children tell stories - the process of storytelling
ŠIMKOVÁ, Marie
The aim of this bachelor thesis is to analyse the structure and development of storytelling. Creativity, as well as imagination, are integral to the storytelling because they play an important role with regard to the progress of the story. Creativity is presented as the newly created words, which do not exist in the Czech language at all, whereas Natálka´s imagination enables her to include the dark elements, such as crushing the rats. In the thesis, I apply the method of Conversation Analysis to the examination of the transcribed audio recordings that were made during the interaction between me and Natálka.
The use of articles in Italian and English - a contrastive analysis
ŠIMKOVÁ, Marie
This diploma thesis aims to analyze the function of articles in English and Italian. In both languages, articles are used in order to determine the name; however, in some instances, such function works in both languages differently. With the help of examples from books and from the InterCorp corpus, this thesis shows the similarities and differences regarding this matter. The description of both languages is based on the point of view of a native speaker of Czech. Having a broad variety of endings and declinations, Czech is a language that does not use the category of article. Thus, it uses other means to cover the same function, which in this case helps to see the differences in different language systems. The thesis is divided into ten chapters; each of them deals with a different aspect that is related to the article use. To show the level of similarity in each of these cases, the theory is supported by various examples in both languages. The first chapter deals with the development of articles from the Indoeuropean base. Next chapter introduces the current forms of articles in modern English and Italian, taking into account pronunciation. Chapter 3 focuses on the classification of substantives and also deals with the concept of countability. Chapter 4 introduces articles as a part of NP, taking into account different parts of speech that from the syntactic point of view can appear in the same position as article. Chapters 5 and 6 are focused on the general functions of articles, while the following two chapters analyse respectively the use of articles with common and proper names. Chapters 9 and 10 deal with the impact of word order on the use of articles and with the correlation of articles and demonstrative pronouns. In the final part are exposed the general conclusions that resulted from the analysis of all the aspects listed above.
Vietnamese-Czech bilingual adolescents on EEG - bilingual effect on cognitive advantage
ŠIMKOVÁ, Kateřina Marie
A recently progressive topic of psychology are aspects of humans psyché. It is raised in the most complicated matter human could ever explore. In the brain. This bachelor thesis briefly concludes cerebral mechanisms of neuroplasticity and its influence on humans life. Concretely the theoretical part is specialized on a cognitive advantage of bilingualism. The mentioned advantage was studied in empirical part by electroencephalographic measurement in Vietnamese-Czech bilinguals during letter detection task. We expected bilinguals to outperform control group of monolinguals in behavioral part. Due to a different neural organization within linguistic plasticity, we also expected different amplitudes in event-related potentials in the bilingual group in linguistic areas of the brain. Results confirm mentioned neural differences, although behavioral advantage hypothesis is falsified.

Aesthetic and Body Movement Education in the Waldorf Pedagogy.
Šimková, Marie ; Mazáčová, Nataša (advisor) ; Váňová, Miroslava (referee)
Over the last few decades there has been a detectable increase in public awareness of the complexity of human being. While in the former years cognitive faculty (measured by IQ tests) was the main matter of psychological interest, nowadays experts are focusing more on the other components of mental activity: emotional, social and creative intelligence. It is beyond dispute that school should foster the development of all these qualities; however, a question rises over the educational procedures and methods which should be employed to reach this high idea. One of the possible ways is represented by waldorf pedagogy whose main aim is to nourish and develop children's minds, hearts and souls and guide them on their way towards becoming valuable members of human society.
The Rappresentation of War in Italo Calvino's works
ŠIMKOVÁ, Marie
The objective of this bachelor thesis is to analyze the Italian writer Italo Calvino's works dealing with World War II and his involvement in the antifascist resistance, in the light of the fact that his personal experience and views on historical events of that time run through his works. The chosen books are analyzed according to the chronology of events, not the publication years. The initial part of the study introduces the author in relation to his family background, as it had an impact on his education, which is very often reflected in his works. In the light of this fact, the first book mentioned is La strada di San Giovanni, which explains how Calvino's family was such a source of inspiration for him, and which he dedicated to his family. Along with it, is also mentioned the short story Il ricordo di una battaglia, one of the stories included in the book, in which the author describes the only real battle he actively took part in, together with the real events, with a gap of thirteen years. The first book to read is L'entrata in guerra where the author depicts the first days of the entry of Italy into Secondo World War. He describes his own memories though he never uses his name real name. The second book analyzed is Ultimo viene il corvo. It is a storybook made of many short length stories and various themes, and therefore only those regarding war are analyzed. The common trait of these stories is the frequent use of allegory which reduces the heavy atmosphere of the historical events of that period and at the same time enables the reader to get a deeper understanding of the text, depending on their knowledge of the historical background. The last book mentioned is Il sentiero dei nidi di ragno which, thanks to the author's choice of narrator, is extraordinary: it is a nine-year-old boy Pin, who describes his adventures and the general atmosphere of the period through a naive and pure point of view, even though the topics handled are war and the oppression felt by people who decided to fight against the Nazi regime. A huge contrast comes out of the whole story as Pin is going through a time of self-discovery, and also growing up without a family, and at the same time he stays on the borderline between two worlds: he cannot understand the children of his age, and yet he is still to young to fully comprehend the world of adults. A way out of this situation seems to be the path where spiders have their nests and which consequently leads him to the person that he is trying to find the whole time. In this book, the author's inclination towards a fairy tale style is evident and will be developed further in his later works. In order to explain the allegorical links, the meaning of the works and the reasons that led Calvino to write these books, the historical background of that period, and also the author's active involvement, notes on the resistance movement and the author's active participation in it are added throughout the whole work.
Violin Creation of Benda´s Family
Šimková, Marie ; HOŠEK, Jiří (advisor) ; PETRÁŠ, Miroslav (referee)
In my diplomas´s thesis I deal with a violin creation of Benda family. In the first charter I discuss about the work of Czech musicians and composers abroad - in Germany,Italy, Poland and Russia. The second charter is called " Frantisek Benda". This chapter testifies abou life and work of this man. Then I desribe the life and life of Antonín Benda, František´s brother. The fifth chapter deals with the important moments in the life of the brothers Josef and Jan Jiří Benda and I also remind their violin making. After a brief introduction to the family Benda I approache to the crucial part of that from the sixth chapter I analyze the characteristics of musical expression siblings Benda. First, I pursue four violin sonatas of František Benda. Then I analyze two sonatas of Frantisek´s brother, Jiří Antonín Benda. The eight chapter deals with the Violin Concerto inG major, which was composed by Jan Jiří Benda. Characteristic of musical speech by František, Jiří Antonín and Jan Jiří Benda is the subjectof the last charter of this work. In the conclusion I argue that musical life in this country, the Czech Republic, or currently not forget the musical legacy Benda family.
