Intergenerational projects

The bachelor thesis deals with intergenerational projects. Firstly, seniors, the youth and their intergenerational relationships are described in the theoretical part. Secondly, ageism and intergenerational learning are covered in the thesis. Then theoretical part defines intergenerational projects in a general way. Lastly, it introduces chosen intergenerational programmes and explains the benefits that follow from them to involved generational groups and entire society. The empirical part is exclusively focused on evaluation of one special intergenerational project. In this project the third grade of the elementary school pupils participated. Pupils created portfolios based on their grandparents' memories, that they had collected due to time spent together. Questionnaire for the pupils and interviews with their teacher and the project implementer were used as a method for the evaluation.
Applying restrictive measures in critical situations with clients in low-threshold facilities for children and youth

1 Abstract The diploma thesis is focused on applying restrictive measures in critical situations with client in low-threshold facilities for children and youth. It is divided into two parts - theoretical and practical. The theoretical part has six chapters. The first chapter defines term of a low-threshold facilities for children and youth (hereafter "NZDM" - abbrev coming from the Czech term) and aims at history of street social work and roots of beginning of NZDM in the Czech Republic. It also explains low-threshold principle, aims of NZDM, and content of the service. The second chapter defines a worker of NZDM as per law, his/her abilities and competencies. In the third chapter there is description of a focus group; the fourth chapter directs methods of working with the focus group. The fifth chapter defines term of a conflict; the sixth term of a sanction (restrictive measures). The practical part brings information about research strategy; it defines main aim and research questionnaire. Questions are focused on sanctions which are used by workers of NZDM in conflict situations, how they see usage of such sanctions when looking back, and what would be their recommendation to colleagues who are in difficult conflict situation. Experience of social workers supporting foster families with self-reflection

1 ABSTRACT The diploma thesis is focused on experience with self-reflection of social workers who supporting foster families. It is divided into two parts - theoretical and empiric. Aim of the thesis was to find out what kind of experience with self-reflection has social workers of organizations supporting foster families. The theoretical part has five chapters. The first chapter shows to readers what profession of a social worker is about - at first it looks at social work in context of helping professions, then it defines expert studies, abilities, and personality of social worker, and it also mentions possible motivation for working in this field. The second chapter brings topic of foster care and a definition of supporting; it describes supporting organizations for foster families and role of social worker in it. In the third chapter there can be found definition of self-reflection (in narrow meaning it brings nearer parts of self-reflection such as self-approach, self-knowledge, or self-regulation); further there can be found consideration of what importance self-reflection has for social workers and which tools to reach it they can use. Specifications in communication with children with autistic syndrome defect

The bachelor thesis focuses on children with autistic spectre disorder. In particular, it deals with communication and its specific problems of the children. The theoretical part concentrates on different types of disorders, verbal and nonverbal communication of autistic children and problems occurring during the communication process. At the end, it introduces the Son-Rise program which is a home-education program for children with autistic spectre disorder. Its main goal is to establish and develop a relationship with the child. The program has been used for more than 30 years. The practical part includes a research and six case studies related to children with autistic spectre disorder. The aim of the thesis is to map and characterize the manner and development of communication of adults with children who have been diagnosed with autistic spectre disorder. It detects the main problems in communication process and recommends techniques how to strengthen the relationship between an adult and a child, no matter whether it concerns a parent, a social worker or a teaching assistant. Rigorózní práce "Senior-dobrovolník v sociální práci" pojednává o dobrovolné činnosti seniorů, v oblasti sociální práce a objasňuje, jak jejich činnost ovlivňuje jejich život v období seniorského věku. Teoretická část práce podává ucelený pohled na problematiku seniorského věku a jeho hlavní představitele, seniora/seniorky a kvalitu jejich života v naší společnosti. Dále se zabývá pohledem na seniora-dobrovolníka v současné seniorské populaci, specifičností, možnostmi a úskalími v práci se seniory-dobrovolníky, začleňováním seniorů- dobrovolníků do sociální práce a konkrétními příklady dobrovolnické činnosti seniorů v sociální práci v různých organizacích v České republice. The situation and needs of foreigners with children with disabilities living in the Czech Republic

The thesis deals with the topic of foreigner's families living in the Czech Republic who have children with disabilities. The purpose of the thesis is to find out how these families perceive their situation, what are their needs, what resources they use and which obstacles they encounter. The first part of the thesis focuses on theoretical concepts of disability, including the description of different types of disabling conditions, the situation of families with disabled children and the social support system in the Czech Republic. The fundamental information about foreigners in the Czech Republic together with main concepts of culture and multiculturalism are also presented. The existing research findings from Canada, USA and UK are explored at the end of the first part. The second part is dedicated to the author's qualitative research using semi-structured interview and open coding. The research findings are described in seven categories - cultural and language aspects, living with a child with disability, health care, institutional support, information sources, informal support and parent's strategies for handling the situation, and unfulfilled needs including suggestions for improvement.
The Analysis of Documents of the Interpreting Service Interpreting Mediation Center for the Deaf

The thesis focuses on organization for the deaf, its development and specifics. The theoretical part presents in the first chapter the basic terminology of hearing impairment and a summary of the findings from social work (focusing on the disadvantaged). The second chapter deals in more detail with the different types of interpretations, followed by the third chapter, which is an interpreted interpreting organization - Centrum zprostředkování tlumočníků pro neslyšící (CZTN). The theoretical part ends with a chapter on the ways of funding of social services. The empirical section provides a more detailed description of the database - the location where the document analysis was performed. It follows the formulation of the goals of the work, as well as the presentation of a quantitative research methodology related to the study and analysis of documents and a description of the sample itself. Further, the chapter presents research assumptions and research questions, which are presented on the basis of the analysis of the documents with tables and subsequent comments. Competences of workers in the multidisciplinary team on the field of mental health care

Submitted rigorosum thesis occupies with the process of formation of multidisciplinary team and competencies of psychiatric nurses and social workers in the team, which becomes an instrument of care to services dealing with mental illness treatment in the case of transformation of psychiatric care from institutional to sphere of community services. In psychiatrical community-based services as we know them today, multidisciplinatory cooperation should provide more complex and effective help for people with mental illness. The theoretical part of the thesis consists of informative overview, stating the basic terms from fields of mental disorders and community psychiatry and discription of contemporaneous state care about mentally ill and it also brings new information about prepared reforms in area of providing psychiatric services. The empiric part maps the process of putting the multidisciplinary team together in newly established Centre of mental health, which is the new low-threshold pillar of transformation of psychiatric services. Family care for the elderly from the perspective of family carers

The senior care means nowadays mostly the family care. This diploma thesis deals with the experience of family members with the care of a non-self-sufficient senior. The main aim is to take a look at this issue from the point of view of the caregivers and to examine how family caregivers perceive their situation. With the aging of the population, the question arises: how to properly set up a care system for the needs of an aging population members. For the right setting of intervention strategies, it is necessary to listen to those on whom lies the responsibility for the caretakers. The first part of the thesis consists of a theoretical establishment of family care and support, which is provided to the caregivers. Then, it covers various topics related to the changed role of the caregiver (eg. motivation for care, needs and difficulties of caregivers). The theoretical part of the diploma thesis concludes the chapter dealing with gender issues of caregivers. The risks in the provision of the service sheltered housing for pepople with mental illness

This master thesis deals with the risks that arise from the usage of sheltered housing services for people diagnosed with mental illness. People are negatively affected by long term mental illness in several aspects of their lives. Under normal conditions, cohabitation with such individual is thus very difficult without additional help. As a result, his human social network is weakened and the number of his social contacts decreases. The aim of this master thesis is to find out what are the potential risks that are inherent in the use of the social service of sheltered housing and what can be the recommendations for the social service and the users who are potentially at risk of being socially excluded. The thesis is structured as follows. First part of the thesis includes an overview of mental illnesses, the users of sheltered housing can face. Further, the focus is on the reform of the care for the mentally ill and on the current state of the community care in the Czech Republic and the neighbouring states. Next, group sheltered housing for mentally ill people and the resulting risks are described.
