The Burning of Witches: History and contemporary form of tradition

Bachelor thesis "Burning of the witches: History and current form of tradition deals with history of Walpurgis Night custom of burning of the witches in the Czech culture with comparation with traditions in the surrounding countries. Its purpose was to find out how this custom was transformed into its present form over the centuries and to describe and analyse its contemporary form. To obtain actual data, fieldwork was conducted, in several selected municipalities in northern Bohemia. Research has been implemented by attended observation and unstructured or semi-structured interviews. The purpose was to obtain data about the course of the events themselves, the interpretation of the organizers and participants and the accompanying activities.

Snake in the Czech Worldview. Ethnolinguistic study

The bachelor thesis Snake in the Czech Worldview is an ethnolinguistic study, which is based on the concepts and methodology of the Slavic cultural linguistics, of which principles are introduced in the first chapter of the thesis. Zoological point of view on a snake and its position in the world mythology are introduced before the thesis explores the word snake in the Czech ethymological and monolingual interpretative dictionaries. The most signifiant part of the thesis is focused on the many forms and shapes that a snake aquires in the Czech traditional and also modern folklore. By gathering and analysing the phraseology, traditional fairy tales, legends and fables and also contemporary urban legends concerning snakes, the research is heading towards the final conclusion - to create the definition of a snake in the Czech culture, thus its position in the Czech worldview.

The End of Baráčníks in the Society of Experience?

The aim of this work is to help claryfying the question of why members of baráčník's clubs, who are engaged in maintaining national traditions, are nowadays talking about the decline or even the end of their movement and how they are trying to resist this threat. Baráčník's movement is understood in this work as an artificially created tradition of the late 19th century, which is confronted with today's social reality, which according to one theory, can also be described as an society of experience. In the first phase of the thesis, it is first introduced how, on the basis of concrete arrangements, a centrally organized movement focused on the care of national customs and traditions emerged from the network of pubs table companies. It is monitored how the headquarter of baráčník's movement worked on standardization of baráčník's ideology, symbolism and program. It also shows how these changes in ideology were approached by the members themselves and the public. Special attention is focused on finding the answer, why it was possible that baráčník's clubs have not been canceled in the era of communist regime. Ground Plan Types of Farmsteads with Ethnic Marks in Village of Lysolaje.

Ján Čonka, BZK 2019 Abstract (In English) The bachelor thesis represents folk architecture for the benefit of the Czechoslovak ethnographic society; therefore, the work works with the ground plan type of the house in the village of Lysolaje. With a sign of ethnicity to the farm. Based on the study Prazak, Vilem: Towards the foundation of ground plan types of folk buildings in Czechoslovakia. The shed house off the rooms with the shed and the chamber-type house next to the room. With this type of ground plan, it is possible to distinguish the ground plans for the German house identification house and the Czech chamber type house identification. Another dimension of the thesis is the analysis of ethnicity in terms of social and cultural anthropology, the Czechoslovak ethnographic society and ethnicity in folk architecture. Historically, the development of Lysolaj describes the history of farm. The archive source represents material that already existed in the research of folk architecture in the village. Methodological side works with the method deduction and induction, verifies the theoretical statement of Prazak Viliam.

Nationalism in Serbia at the end of the 20th century: Crime and turbofolk as a cover to autocracy

Crime and turbofolk as a cover to autocracy? Nationalism in Serbia at the end of the 20th century Abstract: In this MA. thesis it will be investigated how, by the influence of the politics of Milosevic in the 1990s, implemented by the political elite gathered around him, a rise of crime, war profiteering and the development of a new popular culture genre of turbofolk appeared in Serbia. Such socio-political conditions, supported by a strong media propaganda by the regime, turned out to be the key pillars of Milosevic's autocratic rule. Special emphasis will be given to a new cultural phenomenon that struck this region in the period - the phenomenon of "turbofolk" as the dominant music genre of the time, that completes the picture of Serbian society during the 1990s. Overwhelmed with elements of kitsch and baroque, this popular music genre which originated in the restaurants of central Serbia suburbs, has become an unavoidable part of everyday life of young people, whose new idols were individuals who measured their success by the number and importance of their criminal ventures. The emergence of turbofolk, therefore, is considered in light of the birth of the new socio-political circumstances. The collective memory of the forcibly ejected inhabitants: The oral history about the 2nd World War from Neveklov and its neighbourhoods

This Dissertation is the benefit to studying of the questions of the oral history of forcibly ejected inhabitants of Neveklov and its neighbourhoods during the 2nd World War. About this region, there exists authentic testimony and this territory is fixed in the collective memory. The oral history is a highly valued literary source. Its value is in the authenticity, which is characterized by selectivity and represents another point of view. The essay brings the unique opportunity to get acquainted with witnesses of the wartime. At present this testimony is unknown or is being forgotten in the offical documents. The essay follows the researches of Jaromír Jech from the middle of the last century. If we compare the results of both researches, we get the view of the importance of forcible displacement of Czech inhabitants in a demarcated region. Result of this work is the analysis of the results obtained with the help of the modern approaches that are based on the method of the oral history, which is a part of the qualitative research, with an emphasis on general objectives and context. Internet humour as annihilator of political authority

1 The main aim of this Bachelor thesis is to document, analyse and interpret manifestations of Internet humour dealing with negatively perceived historical and current political personalities. Dominant emphasis will be put on the phenomenon of Internet memes with the focus on two asymmetric politicians - Adolf Hitler (historical personality) and Kim Jong-un (current personality). Attention will be paid also to other personalities satirized in a similar manner as well as to specific features of this original way of a collective signifying of generally recognized media facts. Thesis is based on theoretical assumptions of digital folklore and psychological theories of humor.

Village Lysolaje

The thesis analyses the ethnic identity of economic farmhouses in the village Lysolaje. The work is divided into three parts. The first part of research folk architecture from 1952 to 1953 called "description research" on folk culture 50s of the last century, the Ethnographic Society of Czechoslovakia. The second part of the material presents a historical evolution from inception. Describes farmhouses, work, old road administration's Ruzyne magistrate, statistics and modern-day attractions Lysolaje. Archival sources from the National Heritage Institute, building condition survey in 1952 and also from the 80s of the last century Lysolaje.
