The topic of my bachelor thesis is an urban area near the main square in Krnov located on a crossroad of streets Sv. Ducha and Soukenická ulica. On this place was located one of the main city gates - Hlubčická brána. Nowadays it can be considered as a vague place. In my thesis I propose a new library for Krnov. Currently the capacity of a library in Krnov is insufficient. I also deal with a topic of a library in 21st century and its importance for people nowadays and in the future.

The Bachelor thesis represents an architectural and urban solution for future development strategy in the vicinity of the main square in Krnov. The concept of living in the countryside, which is familiar to this residence, is a main topic of the work. By building in the existing brownfield area, I try to thicken the urban structure and support the use of other relationships between public space, private space and semi-public buildings. I consider the appropriate relationship of the buildings with the openness of such a structure meaningful for the initiation of Krnov's development strategy in the future.

The assigned area for the design of the new Faculty of Architecture is surrounded by Údolní, Úvoz and Tvrdého streets. The Faculty of Fine Arts and the rental building are located in the complex. The design logically closes the location on Tvrdého Street and enlivens this street with school functions, office space rental, parking and a café. In the closed block of both faculties, a significant accent is the studio tower, which significantly exceeds the surrounding buildings and creates a dominant feature of the whole. The dominant presents the work of architects to the public with its transparent concept. The aim of this bachelor's thesis is to deviate from the academic way of teaching architects and replace it with a large workshop with fluid spaces for free concepts of internal functioning of teaching and the possibility of experimenting with the constructivist method "Learning by doing".

The bachelor thesis is seeking for an answer about the future of BUT university area between the streets Úvoz, Údolní and Tvrdého, and about the design of new faculty of architecture. The idea of connecting our school with Faculty of fine arts, which is already situated in the area, gives the opportunity to not only create school complex, but to aim for a new cultural spot of the city of Brno. The concept is built uppon the analysis of the working of faculty and its inner connections, that are transformed into the scheme of atrium.

The bachelor project deals with the impact of the bold traffic structure of the Large City Ring Road on the immediate surroundings of Tomkovo Square in Brno. It examines the possible development of this particular area on the backdrop of historical contexts with the growth of traffic load, looking for a border between the newly created free space of the crossroads and the space for urban structures and proposes a new development on the plots in the gap below Husovic Hill.

Tomkovo square is a place without clear identity. The indistinct character of the space is caused by traffic, which is the determining element and has shaped the face of the square since the past. Street lines had to be disrupted and the original buildings had to give ground to many traffic changes. This can be observed on the torsos of the buildings and large quantity of empty gables. Empty gables are typical element created near traffic constructions all through the city of Brno. This occurence can induce negation of the very purpose of natural growth of urban structures, in this case, however, due to rythmic reccurence of the gables, it becomes the staple element, which encloses the space and thus creates the square. The border is composed of two main motives – „solids and voids“. Solids are represented by matter - the empty gables. Voids are street spaces, passages or vistas that navigate somewhere, usually to a place with a public function, such as school, cinema or bus stop.The design of an additional function of student dormitories and a hostel is based on this thesis.

The bachelor thesis deals with a complex design of an apartment building reflecting on upcoming changes of Tomkovo square‘s neighborhood. The conception is specialized in a contact between the former urbanism and a new traffic construction of The Big City Ring Road.

My bachelor project is concerned with possibility to build a new residential structure in the vicinity of Tomko’s square in Brno. The project takes into account the planned widening of the north-western part of the cities circuit, which includes a bridging of the square by multi-lane road. A traffic solution of such a radical character shall significantly influence the already dysfunctional and shattered location and adjacent areas in an even more negative manner. The main objective of my work is to first and foremost find a urbanistic solution which would deal with these challenges and create suitable conditions for the unification and development of the area. Subsequently, my project proposes a residential building, through which I seek to explore the possibility to create residential structures in empty spaces in the, which are nowadays often created in the proximity of busy urban transport lines and which shall most probably continue to emerge in the future due to gradually larger flows of traffic.
