Title: Case Report: Physiotherapeutic Treatment of a Patient Diagnosed with a Bimalleolar Ankle Fracture Thesis goal: The goal of this thesis is to present a theoretical outline of a bimalleolar ankle fracture diagnosis and a practical survey of the respective conservative medical treatment. The material and evidence required for these were gathered during a practical training experience in Kladno hospital. Methodology: The theoretical part of this thesis includes theoretical matter from the fields of anatomy, kinesiology, biomechanics, traumatology, and types of physiotherapeutic treatment of bimalleolar ankle fracture. The following special part of this thesis discusses the methodology, collects anamnesis data and includes the initial kinesiologic check-up on the basis of which a suitable therapy and a short-term physiotherapeutic schedule was designed. This part of the thesis further consists of an account of individual therapeutic procedures and of the final kinesiologic check-up which is compared to the initial check-up. In conclusion, there follows an argumentation of the efficiency of the chosen physiotherapeutic methods. Key words: physiotherapy, case report, ankle joint, fracture

The effect of manual lymphatic drainage on the musculus soleus muscle tension in patients with chronic venous insufficiency
Květoňová, Hana ; Jalovcová, Miroslava (advisor) ; Novotná, Irena (referee)
Title: The effect of manual lymphatic drainage on the musculus soleus muscle tension in patients with chronic venous insufficiency. Aims: The aim of this thesis is to summarize theoretical knowledge about chronic venous insufficiency, muscle tension and manual lymphatic drainage and then to perform a pilot study to determine whether people suffering from chronic venous insufficiency have changed muscle tone of musculus soleus and to verify whether the implementation of a single manual lymphatic drainage of the lower limbs results in a change of muscle tension of musculus soleus. Methods: There were three patients who participated in the experiment. Anthropometric examinations of circuits of both lower limbs on all patients was carried out, using measuring tape and then a muscle tone of musculus soleus was measured using a device called myotonometer. After that the single manual lymphatic drainage of one lower limb (more affected lower extremity) was performed. The second, untreated leg was considered to be the control limb. There was also performed basal treatment of the neck, before every manual lymphatic drainage of lower limb. Circumferential dimensions of both lower limbs were measured immediately after manual lymphatic drainage and then 15 minutes later again. After that the muscle tone of...
Interrater reliability of assessment set of clinical features of patients with multiple sclerosis
Marková, Pavla ; Řasová, Kamila (advisor) ; Novotná, Irena (referee)
Title: Interrater reliability of assessment set of clinical features of patients with multiple sclerosis Objectives: The aim of this thesis is to verify interrater reliability of the assessment set of clinical features of patients with multiple sclerosis which purpose is to evaluate sensitivly and comprehensivly the stage of the patients' clinical condition. Methods: According to the inclusion criteria, the patients with MS were selected by an independent neurologist who determined the EDSS score and duration of the disease. After, patients were evaluated by the assessment set by two independent physiotherapists. The assessment set of clinical features incluedes Low-Contrast Letter Acuity Test which tests contrast vision, Nine Hole Peg Test investiges fine motor skills, Timed 25 - Foot Walk evaluates walking speed over a distance of 7,5 m, Paced Auditory Serial Addition assesses cognitive function, Motricity Index tests muscle strength, Modified Ashworth Scale spasticity, Berg balance Scale equilibrium. Furthemore, the tests for evaluation of righting, equilibrium and protective reactions, the test evaluating knee hyperextension, the examination of dysdiadochokinesia and ataxia. Results: High interrater reliability was confirmed in all tests in the examinig set (ICC: 0,80 - 1), except for MAS...

The relation between backache and urinary incontinence
Zahradníková, Pavla ; Pavlů, Dagmar (advisor) ; Novotná, Irena (referee)
Title of master's thesis: The relation between backache and urinary incontinence Aims: The aim of the thesis is to find relations between various body structures. The main focus is on the analysis of the connections between backache and urinary incontinence depending on duration of backache, localization, backache promotion and sports activities. Methods: The survey was carried out by a four-page questionnaire. In total there was a group of 97 respondents, 79 women and 18 men, who had problems with backache, urinary incontinence or both. The age range of the respondents was from 18 up to 84 years. The questionnaires were distributed to specialized clinical centers in the fields of rehabilitation and physical medicine. The survey data was processed and analyzed by using the statistical program SPSS, Statistical Package for the Social Sciences. Results: The results indicate that there is a relation between backache and urinary incontinence. There is also a relation between promotion of pain in the lower extremities and urinary incontinence. Moreover, it has shown that more than half of the respondents had backache and urinary incontinence at the same time. However, the last two results have not been found statistically significant. According to the survey there is a proved influence of the...
Testing of the postural stabilization in relation to weight changes of breasts
Korábová, Pavlína ; Rašev, Eugen (advisor) ; Novotná, Irena (referee)
Title: Testing of the postural stabilization in relation to weight changes of breasts Objectives: Aim of this study is to assess postural changes after breast reduction. To capture the level of postural stability before and after surgery and to evaluate changes between these states. Methods: This thesis is a clinical trial of one group of persons (n=12). It has been created as a quasi experiment. For testing there was used diagnostic method of postural somatooscilography (PSOG) which includes performing postural provocation test on the platform Posturomed under standard conditions. The testing was performed three times. The measurement was recorded by program Microswing 6.0, the collected data was evaluated by program Posturomed Commander and further analyzed by one - way Analysis of Variance in statistical program OpenStat. Results: Managed to prove, that breast reduction has a positive influence on postural stabilization at women suffering from gigantomastia. Status of postural stability was significantly improved two months after surgery. Keywords: postural stability, Posturomed, postural somatooscilography, gigantomastia, reduction mammaplasty
A Change in Blood Flow to the Muscle during Compression Therapy
Kuncová, Eliška ; Pavlů, Dagmar (advisor) ; Opatrná Novotná, Irena (referee)
Title: A Change in Blood Flow to the Muscle during Compression Therapy Objectives: The main objective of this work is to determine the change in muscle blood flow during compression therapy, specifically during flossing. Another objective is to get acquainted with compression techniques. Methods: In our work, we used an anamnesty questionnaire to get basic information about probabilities. Flossing was applied to the right shoulder for two minutes. The flow measurement was carried out on Précisé 8008 and the data were evaluated using descriptive statistics, testing using a linear model, an ANOVA and T-test. Results: We found that the development of blood flow to the biceps brachii muscle during and after application is variable. After application of flossing, there are statistically significant changes in blood flow to the upper limb (where flossing was applied) and subsequently, after application, there is an improvement in muscle blood flow (TcpO2). There is also a change in blood flow to the opposite limb (where flossing has not been applied), but this change is statistically significant at the time of the lowest blood flow to the limb where flossing was applied and 15 minutes after the lowest perfusion was measured. Furthermore, flossing was found not to return rapidly to baseline in the upper...
