Seasonal profile of nuptiality, natality and mortality in the Czech republic and international comparison Abstract The aim of this thesis is to capture changes in seasonality of nuptiality, natality and mortality in the Czech Republic and the factors that influence the seasonality. Despite the fact that these changes have been monitored since the 16th (nuptiality) and the 17th century (natality and mortality), the thesis focuses on the period from 1950s to 2012. Czech Republic is then compared with six other countries, with shorter reference period (2005-2012). Seasonal profile is represented by seasonal indexes and their variability is analyzed using the coefficient of variation. Seasonality of marriages was, especially in the 1950s, characterized by the accumulation of marriages in the last months of the year and in April, with later shift to the summer. The minimum was at the beginning of the period in the first quarter of the year and in May and later joined them low values in November and December. Due to superstitions about unhappy marriages, May was a month with a very low seasonal index throughout the period. Seniors mortality from external causes of death in the Czech Republic in 1994-2012 Abstract The main aim of the thesis is to analyze the external causes of mortality of seniors in the Czech Republic between 1994-2012. For research purposes, seniors are divided into two age categories (60-74 and over 75), observed in the Czech administrative regions. The study concentrates on three groups, derived from the chapter of External causes of International Statistical Classification of Disease and Related Health Problems: Traffic accidents, Falls and Intentional self-harm. Concerning the main analytical approach, the author has opted for the method of direct standardization. The results of the study confirm the decreasing mortality of all selected categories in Czech regions and the country itself, but proves that considerab differences between the genders remaine. Lone-parent family households in Czech and Slovak Republic after 1970 in the context of socio-economic and demographic development. Abstract This paper introduces the topic of families and households. The shift of attitudes and social values which are connected with single-parent family households is studied based on statistical surveys. This work elaborates changes in number and structure of single-parent family households in Czech and Slovak Republic since 1970 till present. The first part outlines the view of experts on a broad concept of family and the family cycle. The next part evaluates the long-term evolution of marriage, divorce, fertility and changes in society values. The changes in society values are correlated with formation, structure and number of single parent family households in the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic before and after 1990. Changing nuptiality patterns in the Czech Republic: start of the 21st century contrasted with the eighties of the 20th century

The intention of this study is to compare nuptiality intensity and time distribution during the years 1980 - 1989 and 2000 - 2009. Major part of this study concerns with the nuptiality of unmarried people thus the main source of data for the analysis are nuptiality life tables of unmarried. This study contains also analysis of population structure according to age and marital status, opinion of the Czech population to the institution of marriage and rank of the Czech Republic in the international context. Results of the study shows that in the 80s of the 20th century indicatior of the nuptiality intensity and indicator of the nuptiality conjugation were stable. At that time people got married often and in lower age. The beginning of the 21st century was a dynamic period. During the whole first decade the intensity of nuptiality was decreasing while the age of the first marriage was increasing.

Trends of regional differentiation in the reproductive behavior of the population in the Czech Republic during the transformation Abstract Changing the political system in the Czech Republic brought besides other things radical, unexpected changes in reproductive behavior of the population. This thesis deals with the course of changes in reproductive behavior of the population in the districts of the Czech Republic and the main aim of this thesis is to analyze the spatial development of these changes and whether there are spatial patterns, which are spread by new, innovative, reproductive behavior. Changing patterns of reproductive behavior was in the territory of around the Czech Republic in a very short time in which we can observe the different status of "urban districts" with the exception of Ostrava. In comparison with other districts we can see rapid transformation of reproductive patterns in these "urban" districts and they become the leading districts inthe process of transformation of repro ductive behavior.Includes of the presented study is also performed cluster analysis in five selected years, whose aim is to group the individual districts by similarity of reproductive behavior. Tuberculosis - re-established problem of European population Abstract The main objective of this study is to collect data and to provide information about current tuberculosis burden on European population and to capture the most important trends in development of spreading the infection in the European region in the period 1995-2010. A typology of the countries of the European region is performed on the base of main features of tuberculosis morbidity and mortality in the period 2008-2010. Detailed analysis of level of tuberculosis morbidity and mortality for each region was based on available data. The study also presents the plans of major world and European organizations to eliminate spread of tuberculosis.

The structure of the population of Most district: history, present and possible future development options Abstract The objective of this study is to evaluate the historical, current and possible future development of the structure of the population, which live in the analyzed district of Most. Within the district are compared the structures of the population by sex, age, marital status, educational attainment, nationality, religion and economy activity in each selected years. In the first part, the history of settlement of the current district is briefly explained. Development of the settlement in the 20th century and development of the structures of population follows. In the next part, the current structures of the population and possible options for future development of the population of the district are given. Differences of the structures of the population structure during the existence of life in the district are evaluated in the conclusion part. Fertility transformation in the youngest age from point of view of demography Abstract This thesis aims at evaluating fertility transformation in the youngest age in the 20th century and at the beginning of the 21st century in the Czech Republic. Circumstances and causes of transformation of fertility in this age group of women are based on usage of theoretical concepts related to fertility issues in the youngest age. The chosen period shows a number of changes in socioeconomic, political and legislative way. The transformation of the society in 20th century had influence on fertility level and fertility timing. Form of motherhood in the young age has changed also. Differences of characteristics of fertility in youngest age influenced by social evolution were shown on example of comparison of young women fertility evolution in Czech Republic, France and Romania. It approves that fertility level in the youngest age can be the driver of the social progression. Keywords: fertility, Czech Republic, young mother
