Energy efficiency of hydrogen utilization in transport
Mikulenka, Karel ; Kučera, Pavel (referee) ; Vopařil, Jan (advisor)
This bachelor thesis analyses current possibilities of hydrogen usage in transport. Hydrogen is by scientific community viewed as a possible answer to ever growing emissions from transport and their negative affect on the environment. The work introduces the most significant advantages of hydrogen usage as a fuel in comparison to its counterpart combustion engine and battery vehicles. Two means of obtaining energy from hydrogen in a vehicle itself shall be described which are hydrogen combustion and fuel cells. Further shall be made analysis of current possibilities for potential end customer pertaining vehicle and fuel availability. In the end is given a general description of hydrogen transport implementation in Czech Republic and its energetic cost and efficiency within an overall hydrogen economy.
Design of universal microcontroller for automotive ECUs
Midrla, Daniel ; Vopařil, Jan (referee) ; Kučera, Pavel (advisor)
This bachelor’s thesis deals with the process of designing, manufacturing, and programming of an embedded device based on a microcontroller with an ARM processor. The primary field of application of this device is motor vehicles. However, there has been an emphasis on universality during the design stage. The thesis begins with a summary of theoretical knowledge concerning this topic. Then follows a description of the design, manufacturing, and programming of the device. Finally, the functionality of the device is verified with the use of testing hardware.
Powertrain Mountings in a Car Body
Dúlovcová, Gabriela ; Vopařil, Jan (referee) ; Drápal, Lubomír (advisor)
The main aim of this thesis is to give reasons and describe different conceptions of engine mountings that eliminate vibrations of powertrain in a car body of personal vehicle. Another part is a comparison of particular conceptions from construction views and features. At the end of the thesis, there is assessment and designed possible future development.
Environmental aspects of CNG vehicles
Raiskup, Martin ; Kučera, Pavel (referee) ; Vopařil, Jan (advisor)
This bachelor‘s thesis is focused on matter of environmental aspects of cars powered by CNG. At first natural gas is introduced as a fuel for combustion engines. In the next step pros and cons are evaluated. Then there are described individual combustion systems and components of engine powered by natural gas. The main part of this thesis is focused on ecology. There is mentioned the impact on environment, comparing the impact of natural gas with other conventional fuels. This comparison is realised through the more objective Well to Wheels analysis as well.
Utilization of biogas in transport
Strnadel, Bronislav ; Kučera, Pavel (referee) ; Vopařil, Jan (advisor)
The subject of this bachelor’s thesis is the utilization of biogas as a fuel for vehicle engines. First of all, methods of production, upgrading and utilization of biogas are explained. Then the situation in the Czech Republic and in Sweden is compared. Next part of the thesis is focused on the vehicles which burn upgraded biogas or natural gas vehicles. Their construc-tion and the function of fuel system are described in detail. The dependence of shape of combustion chamber on engine performance and the issue of protection of valves and their seats are described in this chapter. In the last part, a business case study of utilization of bio-gas from a biogas station is elaborated.
Conception of terrain vehicles UTV
Máca, Jiří ; Vopařil, Jan (referee) ; Kučera, Pavel (advisor)
This review type bachelor thesis is dealing with conceptual solutions of Utility terrain vehicles. Individual chapters are describing main functional groups and different options of their construction. These options are analysed in terms of suitability for given application in utility and sport terrain vehicles, their manufacturing complexity and costs. Specific vehicles are mentioned only marginally.
Strength Analysis of Alternator Body
Kratochvíl, Petr ; Vopařil, Jan (referee) ; Novotný, Pavel (advisor)
In this diploma thesis is theoretically described and then practically performed stress analysis of alternator body, which in terms of traffic racing car often passes into disrepair. It is used reverse engineering method. The real part is converted to digital model and analysed using FEM calculation. Incoming data for FEM are obtained by experimental measurement on the car.
Shape Optimalisation of Aircraft Engine Crankshaft
Vopařil, Jan ; Drápal, Lubomír (referee) ; Novotný, Pavel (advisor)
This thesis describes the variety and the width of issues connected with crankshafts of combustion engines. It distinguishes different factors, which influence the shape and size of these crankshafts and the selected findings are then transferred into the design of crankshaft for the particular engine. The thesis also presents coherent description of application of topology optimization to the particular crankshaft and also different, more complex design procedures leading to the optimal shape of crankshaft are afterwards suggested. Quality of such a design is then verified by comparative analysis of fatigue of the crankshaft.
Influence of surface modifications on fatigue life
Gerec, Matúš ; Kučera, Pavel (referee) ; Vopařil, Jan (advisor)
This bachelor thesis presents the description of surface treatment technologies used on dynamically loaded mechanical parts. It explains the influence of each surface treatment on high–cycle fatigue life. Then the thesis describes the analytical calculation of fatigue limit of real part and approach to design of mechanical part on infinite life.
Axles of modern cars
Tichý, Ondřej ; Vopařil, Jan (referee) ; Kučera, Pavel (advisor)
This bachelor thesis focuses on desicribing of common axle types, their modern solutions and modifications, which are brought by a usage of electronic and hydraulic systems, and discusses their properties as well. The next part of the thesis deals with types of axle differentials and their modern electronic substitutes. The most common brake types, brake assistant systems and main types of vehicle wheels are mentioned in the last chapter.
