Vladimír Grégr and architecture in Czechoslovakia during the interwar years
Sosnovcová, Eva ; Lahoda, Vojtěch (advisor) ; Kratochvíl, Petr (referee)
The subject of this thesis is Czech architect Vladimír Grégr (1902-1943). His buildings are mainly in Prague, and concentrated in the Barrandov Terraces area. So far academic scholarship has focused on the aerodynamic aspect of his work, a trend which was also current in Germany and Poland, and represented by a group of architects called Der Ring, which included figures such as Hugo Häring, Hans Scharoun, Adolf Rading, Max and Bruno Taut. While this influence is certainly present in Grégr's buildings that date from 1930-33, it occupies a relatively minor part of his career as a whole, when compared to subsequent projects dating from 1933-1940. The end of this second period is marked by his arrest by the Nazis, an imprisonment which lasted until his execution in Plötzensee in 1943. It was during this second phase when Grégr constructed romanticized Spanish villas, resembling cottages with their saddle roofing, wooden shutters and arcades. As yet we can only speculate as to why he changed his architectural style, but it appears to be a deliberate regression from Functionalism and has more in common with Frank Lloyd Wright, Czech folk architecture and elements of the German trend, heimatstil. I also describe parallel cases in Czech architecture of the same period, which suggests that Grégr's approach to...
Architecture first half of the 20th century in the western part of the Ústí Region ( in preparation of art teachers and the educational use of the work with electronic media )
Pavlíček, Tomáš ; Šamšula, Pavel (advisor) ; Brožek, Jaroslav (referee) ; Kratochvíl, Petr (referee)
The paper "The Architecture of the First Half of the Twentieth Century in the Western Part of the Ústi Region" ( in the preparation of art pedagogy and its didactical use in the realm of electronic media) covers - as it is obvious from the title - not only the architecture and its pedagogical reflection. In the first part of the paper the author tries to touch a phenomenon of the relationship of the society to the area itself. This phenomenon is significant as it unveils the social relationships and forces which were decisive in not only forming the region, but also influencing the way of interpretating the history, especially the history of the first half of the twentieth century. The main part of the paper consists of a description of the architecture in the interim period between the two world wars, in the identification of its creators, in the discerning of its Czech and German origins. The focus on the Ústi region is not by chance, as it is the home region of the author. The region is defined, starting at Ústi nad Labem going as far as Chomutov. This part traces the architectural development of German creativity in the Czech area and compares it with the Czech product. In our paper we have to note the more conservative approach of the German architects, who combined the procedures of expressionism with...
INTEGRATED SOLUTION OF DIAGNOSTICS OF PRODUCTION EQUIPMENT IN THE CZECH ENERGY INDUSTRY
Cvešpr, Pavel ; Szabó,, Radek (referee) ; Kratochvíl, Petr (referee) ; Hammer, Miloš (advisor)
This dissertation thesis is concerned with the diagnostics of the main production facilities in Czech power engineering with a focus on its integrating role in the process of gaining, saving and processing information for the purpose of evaluating the technical state of the operated facilities and the plan to manage their lifetime. It is divided into two parts, theoretical and practical. The theoretical part presents the conclusions of examination of the needs of involved workers in the areas of diagnostics, maintenance and expert assessment of technical state of equipment. These conclusions were formulated based on the completed analysis of the current status ("as - is" analysis) of performing diagnostics of systems operated in the technological units of both nuclear and classical power engineering. The monitored equipment involves electrical installations and machinery, steel and building constructions, measuring instruments and vibrodiagnostics. Based on the analysis results, process diagrams are created for the solution of partial tasks. The analysis of the proposed solution for problems in question ("should - be" analysis) includes a design of the fundamental scheme of the data model for a software solution and a design of data flows from the individual data sources. The following part presents an application layer which includes a detailed description of major functionalities. Further, important activities and procedures are described that are necessary to evaluate the technical state of equipment. The practical part deals with the implementation of the LTO suite software product in the environment of power engineering in Czech Republic, specifically within ČEZ, a.s.. The LTO suite functionality is demonstrated in this part of the thesis by screens recorded within the LTO suite individual modules, which work above the actual data. It starts with the initial screen for configuration of displayed data, continues to present examples of the equipment register, planning, processing and saving of information collected through the diagnostic activities over to the module of integration – analytical layer, which is designed for evaluation of the technical state of equipment at the entered date with a reporting output. The thesis also includes the chapters on "Aims of the Study" and "Conclusion". The key chapter presents the "Benefits of the Study", whose overview describes the original results of the research as well as those applicable also outside the power engineering area.
Reliability of Power Oil Transformers
Ertl, Jakub ; Szabó,, Radek (referee) ; Kratochvíl, Petr (referee) ; Hammer, Miloš (advisor)
The doctoral thesis deals with design of non-invasive methods for estimated reliability analysis of power oil transformers. Such procedures also solve two-state and multistate reliability problems together with applying of gained reliability characteristics in planning further operation of these non-rotating electrical machines. Reliability module for diagnostic system, which is developed at the training workplace, is designed in conclusion of this thesis. All the above procedures were verified on data obtained from diagnostic measurements of ten power oil transformers operating in different power plants in the Czech Republic.
Artificial Intelligence in Power Oil Transformers Diagnostics
Janda, Ondřej ; Szabó,, Radek (referee) ; Kratochvíl, Petr (referee) ; Hammer, Miloš (advisor)
This dissertation thesis deals with the application of expert systems and soft computing methods in field of power oil transformers. The main work is divided into theoretical and practical part. First, the theoretical part presents the basic elements of the transformer, and approaches to its diagnosis. The work focused mainly on the diagnostics of the insulation system, and diagnostic methods and approaches in this specific area. Next part describes the basics of expert systems and other soft computing methods such as: fuzzy logic, neural networks, genetic algorithms and their combinations and extensions. At the end of the theoretical part, the possibility of optimization approaches by means of artificial intelligence and its application in fuzzy model optimization are described. The practical part begins with description of the used data file that runs through the entire work. The work is then divided into four parts, namely in parts which deal with the expert system for transformer diagnostics, DGA module, prediction module, and optimization using artificial intelligence. The section describing the expert system gives specific information about the particular expert system. The means and techniques used for constructing given system are described, and then the complete system design and description of all subsystems and modules are presented. The next section describes the developed DGA module and all selected approaches to its implementation and expansion. At the end of the chapter, the results of comparison between all implemented methods are evaluated. The third part deals with the prediction module and describes its design and construction, including description of the main parts which are based on the selected predictive approaches. Also, the predictions of selected quantities from the data file are included. There are two predictive approaches being used: the one step prediction, and the multiple step prediction. The comparison of prediction accuracy and computational cost of given methods is presented at the end of this chapter. The last part deals with the possibilities of optimization using artificial intelligence methods, namely differential evolution, PSO, and genetic algorithms. Both the single-objective and the multi-objective optimization are considered. The methods are compared in a series of synthetic tests and then applied to optimize the fuzzy models of DGA tests from an earlier part of this work. The dissertation also includes chapters: "The Aims", "The Contribution of the Work", and a list of publications, products, and projects of the author.
