This bachelor's thesis on "Body image, body perception, somatoesthesis" deals with the perception and evaluation of own body by the individual. In this thesis there have been described in a brief summary the evolution and the terminology, the means of examination of the perception and evaluation of the body and also there have been given the examples of the pathology in body perception. It covers not only the physiotherapeutic but also neurological and psychological aspects if the topic. The thesis deals also with the physiotherapeutic means and with the influence of sports on the body perception. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
Somatestezie variability in a group of physiotherapy students
Koudelková, Alena ; Lepšíková, Magdaléna (advisor) ; Čech, Zdeněk (referee)
Dissertation "Variability of Somatesthesis in Students of Physiotherapy " deals with somatosensorical system in its theoretical part. In the practical part, sets of tests - aimed at somatesthesis function testing - are described. These tests are easy to implement and could be objectified. This pilot study was performed on a set of 29 Subjects aged 24 - 30. Selection criteria were set to physiotherapy studies and good health condition. The research ran on FN Motol physiotherapy clinics and lasted from October 2007 until January 2008. Measurements were repeated four times (in random day time), while the interval between examinations were randomly selected 1-12 days. The methodical part closely desribes measurement procedures and performance of each test. The first aim of this dissertation was to create a set of examination tests, concentrated on somatesthesis functions, which could be objectively measured. Further we set a target to find out, if sensomotorical learning effect appears by repeated measurement of same Subject and if quality of somatesthesis functions anyhow changes depending on internal environment status. Therapeutic options and effects in the treatment of pregnancy related low back pain
Čechová, Nina ; Ježková, Martina (referee) ; Lepšíková, Magdaléna (advisor)
Back pain is very common problem that affects most pregnant women. This work focuses in the theoretical part on the distribution of back pain during pregnancy, differential diagnosis, risk factors, prevention and treatment possibilities. Our study involves 272 women that evaluated thein state during pregnancy completing the questionnaire. 85% of women stated back pain during pregnancy and only 8.8% of that consulted their problem with an expert. As a risk factors of pain was confirmed multiparity and younger age of women. BMI as a risk factor wasn't confirmed. Physical activity performed before a woman becoming pregnant as a risc factor reducing the back pain wasn' t confirmed. The incidence of urinary incontinence during pregnancy increases. In our questionnaire, it was confirmed by 22.8% of women. Women's awareness of the support strip was good, but only 7.9% of women benefited from this type of equipment.
Body schema and spatial orientation patients with Failed Back Surgery Syndrome
Kšírová, Julie ; Petrová, Naďěžda (referee) ; Lepšíková, Magdaléna (advisor)
This diploma thesis summarizes recent knowledge about body scheme, spatial orientation and their change in context of chronic pain. The purpose of this work is to find out if chronic pain negatively affects the body scheme and spatial orientation. The thesis includes a comparative analysis of experimental measurements between the patients with Failed Back Surgery Syndrome and healthy control group. The analysis compares tasks based on spatial orientation and body scheme tests. Results show the patients' group having lower results in body scheme related tests, showing a noticeable disparity compared to the control group's test scores. These results were further supported by portion of spatial orientation based tasks, where patients' group again performed at significantly lower level than the control group. In conclusion, our thesis, along with other academic works, states that there is a correlation between chronic pain, disrupted body scheme and spatial orientation. However, at the present time it could not be determined whether the pain precedes the effect of disrupted body scheme or vice versa. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
Testing spatial cognition - a comparison of a group of patients with the Failed Back Surgery Syndrome with a healthy population sample
Střídová, Zuzana ; Čakrt, Ondřej (referee) ; Lepšíková, Magdaléna (advisor)
Diploma thesis summarizes recent knowledge of neurophysiology primarily self-perception and body- scheme. The aim is to contribute and enrich the recent theories. The thesis studies different quality of self-perception in healthy people and patients with chronic back pain, especially patients with Failed Back Surgery Syndrome. An experimental comparison between patients with FBSS and control group has been made. The research involved navigation tasks. Probands were blindfolded during the examination in the space cognition laboratory with the Blue Velvet Arena system. Certain differences between patients and control group have been detected. Further studies with larger number of patients are recommended, so the experiment returns more precise results and statistically valuable data. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
The facilitation of inhibition of the muscles of the torso and lower extremities using various types of footwear - a polyEMG study
Šmahelová, Kateřina ; Lepšíková, Magdaléna (advisor) ; Holubcová, Zuzana (referee)
Diploma thesis "Facilitation and inhibition of trunk and lower extremity muscles using different types of shoes -surface polyEMG assessment" describes basic knowledge about human gait. The work summarizes important facts about gait development, physiological pattems and about impact of shoe types on kinematics and muscle activity during walking. The aim of the study was to analyze activity of eight muscles of trunk and of lower extremities and also to assess basíc temporal-spatial characteristics of gait using surface poly-EMG and forceplate during barefoot gait and while walking in different types of shoes. The analysis was carried out in a sample of 18 young healthy women during level walking. Outcomes indicate that every tested pair of shoes changes temporal-spatial characteristic as well as activity of trunk and lower extremities muscles compared to barefoot gait. In some cases outcomes showed statistically significant difference. According to our conc1usions cause of it was especially the weight of shoes and the instability of ankle and foot while walking in high heels, toe post sandals and "tapky". Correlations between clinical and electromyographic findings in patients with carpal tunnel syndrome depending on rehabilitation therapy
Koutská, Helena ; Lepšíková, Magdaléna (advisor) ; Rychnovský, Tomáš (referee)
The aim of this study was to evaluate the therapeutic effect of rehabilitation in patients with carpal tunnel syndrome. The study focused on a comparison between electromyographic findings, the findings of physioterapist-led clinical examinations and the patient's subjective feelings, illustrated by a visual analogue scale of pain intensity. These three types of examinations were carried out prior to the commencement of rehabilitation and following 8 rehabilitation sessions (within a period of 2 months) in a cohort of 15 patients, and correlations between them were described. Given the high prevalence of the disease, an effort was made to find objective examination criteria without the need to resort to electromyography. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
Superficial electromyography of muscles of legs and shins in various postural situations in patients with chronic talar instability
Kosobudová, Blanka ; Valouchová, Petra (advisor) ; Lepšíková, Magdaléna (referee)
The first aim of this master thesis was to summarize the information on injuries of ligamentous apparatus of an ankle, lateral instability of a talar joint, conservative and operative therapy of these injuries with the emphasis on physiotherapeutical procedures in the therapy of ankle sprains. The second aim of the master thesis was to introduce surface electromyography as a possibility to examine objectively the differences in the activation of foot and shank muscles with healthy people and people with chronic instability of an ankle in different postural situations. The third aim was to use the theoretical knowledge in practice with patients who have sprained their ankle and to make a subjective and objective assessment of the therapy effect which is in progress.
