Sanctions on arms trade during the conflict in Sudan

This thesis focuses primarily on the international sanctions imposed by the UN Security Council and the European Union on Sudan. The first part analyses the multilateral sanctions from the theoretical point of view, focuses on the arms embargo and describes the process of implementation by UNSC and EU. To put these sanctions into context, the second part deals with the historical course of events in Sudan. The next part describes the development of implemented UN and EU sanctions and emphasizes the current sanctions regime. The supply chain of arms to Sudan can be found in the last part of this thesis, together with the analysis of Sudan-China relationship which is crucial for the conflict resolution.
Contemporary Vietnam: 30 years of development towards democracy?

Since the Sixth Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam decided to adopt the programme of Doi Moi (reform programme of economic renovation) in 1986, Vietnam has been experiencing substantial economic and social transformation. The country moved from the centrally planned economy, underwent reforms in agriculture and state-owned enterprises, and pursued the trade liberalization. How are the modernization processes reflected in the political development of Vietnam? Is the country poised for the future democratization? What are the obstacles for shifting to democracy? The aim of the thesis is to find answers for these questions using the theoretical framework of selected criteria of classical theories of democracy. The issue is examined at the economic, political and social level.
The influence of the presidential administration on the immigration regulation in France

The issue of immigration and the obstacles connected with it become more and more discussed within the government as well as during the presidential campaigns. France is a country with a profound immigration history and sets a model role in the way how the immigration policy can be influenced by left-wing and right-wing governments. The influence of the presidential administration on the immigration regulation in France is the topic of the proposed thesis. The principal objective is to assess the effectivness of the regulation of the immigration policy. It aims to answer the question whether the presidential administration has influence on the immigration regulation.
The role and the effectiveness of the U.S. visa system with a concentration on the threat of terrorism and illegal immigration

This bachelor thesis deals with the visa system of the United States of America. The aim of this thesis is to assess the security feature of contemporary visa system and his effectiveness in the struggle against terrorism and illegal immigration. The theoretical part of the thesis defines basic security concepts. It describes contemporary security system of the U.S. and sets the visa system into it. The practical part deals with the role of the visa system in 11/9 terrorist attacks and compare it to the current situation. It also analyses the role of visas in the struggle against illegal immigration with a concentration on the problem of overstays.
The foreign policy strategy of small states – case study of the Czech Republic

Foreign policy strategy of small states does differ significantly from the strategy of superpowers. The first chapter of this bachelor thesis analyses the different strategies present in foreign policy of small states. Strategies of the Czech Republic are identified in the second chapter, and then the attention is focused on the analysis of niche strategy itself in its form of human rights and transition policy. The aim of this work is, with the use of critical analysis, to compare the declared strategy concept of the human rights agenda with its fulfilling by Czech representatives, assess how the fulfilment of this strategy reflects in the view of other countries towards the Czech Republic, and finally to analyse the potential of the niche diplomacy towards building a good reputation of the Czech Republic on the international platform.
Swedish presidencies of the Council of the European Union

This bachelor thesis compares two Swedish presidencies of the Council of the European Union. The first part focuses on the analysis of them. It mentions priorities, objectives and implemented measures. The next section evaluates the overall success of both presidencies from the perspective of authors, who were concerned with this topic and also explains the reasons behind the achievements or failures. The core of the thesis is the comparison of the analysed presidency periods. The attention is focused on the differences in the attitude to the institute of presidency, in priorities and in approach to them. Reasons of the differences are explained as well. At the same time, the thesis shows, which options a medium-sized Eurosceptic country in charge of the European Union has.

The research issue of this diploma thesis is a civil war. The main aim is to uncover mechanisms that form a logical chain reasons - mechanisms - indicators. The work is composed of a theoretical research and 2 case studies (Sudan, Georgia). A list of general indicators of CW is included. Our of a comples analysis of a civil war there's a main emphasis on previous context and reasons.
USA and China relations since the end of bipolar world

The purpose of this thesis is to demonstrate that American policy is reactive to China's changing status in international relations and Sino-American relationship have gone through various phases since the end of bipolar world, but security remains the main component that shapes Sino-American relations until today. During the Cold War, the main aspect of the relationship was common security threat that diminished with the end of bipolar world. After that, economy became more important and China developed a comprehensive national power. However, with China's new power status in international relations came new realities in Sino-American relations driven by the security concerns again.
Role of identity in China-US relations through social constructivism

This paper presents concept of identity in the theory of international relations. Impact of identity in China-US relations was analysed by way of the critical discourse analysis. The analysis was conducted on the basis of texts from American and Chinese media that covered a certain moment in connection with Taiwan and Chinese currency. After verification of criteria was proved that identity has a role in their mutual relation.
Egypt's position in contemporary international relations

This paper analyzes contemporary foreign relations of Egypt. In the first part of the thesis theoretical basis of the Tahrir revolution is discussed. The second part analyzes the impact of this event on the foreign policy position of Egypt in international relations on the example of relations with the United States, the European Union, including a separate analysis of the Egyptian-Czech relations, and the countries of the Gulf and the Middle East. Although two groups of actors changed representing the ruling elite - the military, the Islamists and the army again, both of them eventually apply the same approaches in the context of the foreign policy. This approach is characterized by particularly strong ties to the country's traditional partners, especially the U.S. and the rich Gulf states.
