Germany's energy policy and its influence on industry

The Master's thesis deals with the question of Germany's energy policy and its impact on industry. The main objective is to assess the current situation of energy policy in Germany through verbal analysis and analysis of risks and challenges that Germany is facing today. Energy policy is assessed on the basis of a move away from nuclear energy and the transition to renewables. A partial objective is to assess the potential consequences of the energy transformation and their impact on Germany's industry, competitiveness, labor market and climate goals. The work also deals with the evaluation of the energy mix in Germany and a summary of events leading up to the actual change in the direction of energy policy.
Support of development, research and innovation in the European Union

This diploma thesis focuses on support of development, research and innovation in the European Union. The first part contains some definitions of terms development, research and innovation. It also provides a brief description of history of support for this sphere. On the example of Czech Republic this thesis describes sources, which can be used to get financial support. The final part evaluates the drawing of Structural funds in Czech Republic and also the participation of Czech scientists on framework programmes, which are supporting development, research and innovation.
Natural movement of population in the EU and its consequences

This diploma thesis focuses on the analysis of demographic indicators and their development for the member states of the current European Union. The work is thematically divided into four chapters. The first chapter is mostly theoretically defined, for the purpose of explanation of all basic concepts. The second chapter shows us where Europe currently stands in terms of demographics. The third chapter is focused on defining the consequences of natural movement. The last chapter offers an analysis of a survey, in which total of 453 respondents from ten countries from allover Europe have participaded. There is no doubt, that the aging of population will have extensive social and economic soconsequences for Europe. On the other hand, we musn't forget that it is also an indicator of social and economic development, and therefore we should not be limited to perceive it only in a negative way.
Postal services within the internal market of the EU

The main goal of the diploma thesis "Postal services within the internal market of the EU" is to evaluate the scope of liberalization of postal services in the member states of the EU. It describes the position of national postal providers on their home market. The second goal of the thesis is to compare the company (business) strategies used by the postal operators. The thesis is divided into four chapters. The first chapter describes the theory of services, the theory of liberalization, the theory of postal services and the legislation of the EU (focusing on postal services). The second chapter describes the situation on the postal market within the member states. The third one interprets the success of the strategies of postal companies and the current situation regarding liberalization. The fourth chapter focuses on vision of future development of the postal market.
Transatlantic Economic Relations in a Changing Global Economy

This thesis focuses on analysis of the shifting role of the state in the context of globalization processes and aims to explain acting of the state in a bilateral cooperation, as an actor who faces these challenges. This framework is afterwards examined on the transatlantic economic cooperation. Main argument is, that in the bilateral cooperation, such shifts can be observed, that are intertwined with greater interactions of components of the states. These transgovernmental networks can be considered inevitable in response to the rising significance of non-tariff barriers and in trade liberalization. In case of the EU-US partnership, the cooperation on this level is focused on harmonizing of regulatory measures what is crucial for further integration of the transatlantic economic relations.
Germany: economic development and integration within the European Union

The thesis deals with an analysis of economic development of the unified Germany and provides characteristics of its position within the European Union. In the first three chapters basic economic indicators (GDP growth, inflation rate, unemployment and foreign trade) are used in order to describe German economic development. The first chapter focuses on the German economy in the 1990s, the second chapter is concerned with the German economic development from the beginning of the third millennium till the year 2007 and the third chapter deals with the German economy from the rise of the crisis till the year 2010. The last chapter points out the role of Germany within the European integration process.
Croatia and Macedonia: economic characterization and EU integration

The diploma thesis describes accession of Croatia and Macedonia to the European union. It analysis their economic situation in context of comparison with EU member states. The information about competitiveness are brought. The goal of the thesis is to clarify readiness of both countries for integration within the EU. Their economy and competitiveness will be evaluated. Integration process is described from two point of view: European union as well as Croatia and Macedonia. There is overview of actual status and negotiation progress of both countries on their way to the EU.
Regional disparities of Germany with focus on new federated states

The main aim of the thesis is to give a complex overview of different types of financial sources, from which new federated states can take benefits, and to give an opinion on the created effectiveness. Additional aims are to sum up the situation of the East German economy after WW2 and also the progress in its reforming during the 90s. Different historical development of the both former divided parts of nowadays Germany is essential because of understanding the economic situation of East Germany in 1990 and the nowadays problems. The first chapter sums up the economic consequences of the post war period, the influence of reparations, demontages and their dimension. In the second chapter follows an evaluation of the main topics of the beginning in the 90s - monetary reform and privatization. The third chapter goes on with the topic of economic reforms in the 90s and defines basic financial programs which are a long-term support to new federated states. Fourth chapter compares main chosen macroeconomic indicators of Germany and EU-27 and then of the old and new federated states. First, economic level of the whole Germany is being analysed and then its regional disparities. The last, fifth, chapter monitors the situation of Germany and its new federated states in the point of structural funds of the European Union.

The graduation thesis Labour Market and Free Movement of Labour (European Union and Great Britain case study) describes the recent situation in the European and British labour markets. It concentrates on impact of financial crisis on labour markets. Then, it monitors the trends of free movement of labour in the European Union and assesses the impact of opening of labour markets on individual economies. Finally, the British migration system is analysed. The changes in migration to Great Britain after 2004 are outlined and new points based system is introduced. The impact of migrant workers on british economy is evaluated.
Economic relations between Germany and the Czech Republic from 2004 to 2009

This bachelor thesis deals with economic relations between Germany and the Czech Republic from 2004 to 2009. First chapter deals with the general economic characteristics of Germany. It is focused on foreign trade and foreign direct investment. The second chapter describes the economic relations between the Czech Republic and Germany. The most of this part writes about trade in goods and services and the flow of foreign direct investment. The third chapter deals with cooperation between the Czech Republic and Bavaria and Saxony. In conclusion prospects and perspectives of economic cooperation between the Czech Republic and Germany in the future are discussed.
